It says "Black Lives Matter" on the back of their jerseys. I tuned in game 1 just to see what was happening. When I saw that I immediately changed the channel. The NFL has been wise not to do the same, though they still have issues.

The OP wouldn't speculate that the ratings are down because the MLB Playoffs, NFL Season are also on TV too, right?

It's part of a pattern, 2018 was also a huge down year, Hollywood award ceremonies also down a lot. We're only in the second round of MLB playoffs and NFL is very early in the season, the OP is about the NBA FINALS.

We’ve always preferred college basketball. The NBAers are overpaid, privileged, arrogant jerks. Hubby watched occasionally but stopped when Allen Iverson told a kid on live tv to "get lost" and told people he needed more money because he had "mouths to feed" Ashhole!

The NBA Finals in non pandemic years are played in June. No NFL, NHL is over and MLB is only in regular season.

Once ****stick Trump is gone, nobody will care about who is or isn't watching sports.

    Exactly.

It is never a good look when people don't even understand the underlying metrics of what they post.

Btw--I could not care less who (or who isn't) watching.

A great game tonight. The Jimmy Butler Show.

I am a huge Laker's fan. This is what is on the wall in my home office. They are both signed.

I can't watch. Having a Marxist organization that is also anti-male and anti-nuclear family written on the sidelines is not acceptable. All the Far Left bullshit is too much. They can be political, but we don't have to watch.

A couple more games like last night from Miami will perk up the ratings a lot.

I almost always watch the playoffs, not this year. Indeed I've been avoiding sport generally.

I get why moat leagues have restarted - they have contracts to fulfill. But personally I think they should have canned the year.

Cultural marxists/sjw types haven't quite figured out how to solidify their fascism in regards to situations where people have complete control in their own homes. Regular folks can simply change the channel, nothing they can do about that yet.

The NBA is a joke! The fix is in and who cares what those multi-millionaires stand for!

I haven't missed sports at all, the 5 month break due to covid allowed me the opportunity to find some other ways to kill time, picked up a couple hobbies, when it all came back with their new unpaid sponsor in BLM I just didn't give much of a dam, no big deal, no hard feelings, i'm just not tuning in.

apparently I'm not the only one.

I gave up on baseball when the players went on strike for the World Series. I gave up on football when they started kneeling. I like hockey but don't get many games in my media market. I don't like basketball, it's a wuss game, so I never watched it. I now fill my time productively instead of watching something that will never impact me played by players who will never know or care about me.

It takes an impressive level of partisanship to excuse the dramatic drop in ratings on anything other than the NBA's politics. If those other things are causing some of the drop they should all but be canceled out by the fact that people aren't going anywhere and are thus at home and could easily be watching.

The ratings are tanking because of their politics. To argue otherwise is laughable.

Ratings are always incredibly important for sports, it's how they get those massive tv contracts. People always care who's watching sports. Sports are one of the few things people still watch live and because of that, they bring in big advertising dollars (because people aren't skipping commercials).

Massive ratings drop = massive revenue drop when the next contracts are negotiated.

Stanley Cup Final between Stars and Lightning is lowest-rated Cup series in more than a decade. Must be all the BLM stuff.

I've watched some Seattle Rain games and they are way over the top with their politics. They've got BLM on the courts and coaches are wearing Say Her Name t's and announcers are talking about how Woke the league is and they've got players coming on during the game to talk about it. Rain are a fun team to watch but the politics are obnoxious.

Let the NBA die. They have racist hiring practices that only quotas might fix, and of course, that isn't going to happen. Let them understand that their income is dependent on their audience, not the other way around. College ball. Simple, alternative to having to listen to angry millionaires bemoan their ability to make those millions.
