    Did something happen? I don't follow the NHL closely but I thought the playoffs were currently happening.

    EDIT: Just looked it up. It is because of the Jacob Blake shooting. I thought there was a major covid outbreak among the players.

    This is truly sickening -- and even more so because I am (was) a Colorado Avalanche fan.

    If they're going to refuse to play because of a situation where police shot a perp who was evidently reaching for a knife concealed in his car as they tried to confront him during a domestic violence call, then the whole damned bunch of them can just skate off to hell as far as I'm concerned....

    Ironically the games are all in Canada. Sucks the Avs may have got their **** together. No nuggets game tonight. Back to fricken Netflix.

    I think the issue (for me anyway) is that they didn't know he had a knife till after they shot him. If he had the knife in hand then sure, semi reasonable response (even though somehow cops in other countries are able to disarm knife wielding individuals without shooting them) to a dangerous situation.

    US cops are lazy and just shoot at the slightest hint of a potentially dangerous situation. The idea is that the gun is supposed to be the last resort, not the first or second. His record is immaterial to this point.

    I'm staying mostly away from that story until there's more verifiable facts, but I cannot abide idiotic teenage punks running around loaded for bear stirring up more trouble than is already around...
