Got any more information? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-25662081 I might be hacked. It seems that's the typical response these days. That's prolly why it wasn't directed at you...
The situation with Ireland and Great Britain is complex and has a long history. If you want to know more I recommend The Oxford History of Ireland, by R.F.Foster.
Unfortunately; no I don't but reading between the lines of that story it seems to have blown out of proportion. Chinese whispers perhaps? I see, well no worries.
I hear ya but movement usually indicates some form of activity whether the sun is shining or not... Ain't that a nice trick...
Like I said, Beware of the snares...
The NHS spends more per capita in Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland than it does in England. So perhaps in Northern Ireland are less healthy/more accident prone/staff less efficient than in England?
The Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish already have more public money spent on them than the English. The English taxpayer already pays for Scottish freebies which are denied to the English, such as free prescriptions. So I think it's safe to say that the Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish have more spent, per capita, on their NHSs than is spent on the English NHS. I know for a fact that Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish patients are given drugs which are denied to the English, yet those drugs are probably paid for by the English taxpayer.
The Irish Republicans lost the War of Independence. They failed to achieve their aim of an independent 32-county Ireland. And the Republic of Ireland isn't free and independent. It is part of the EU and is also under the heel of Angela Merkel.
You might not of noticed, after 700 years, they still have not given up! Those that stole the lands will eventually have there fingers prized off, the 6 counties will eventually return to a unite Ireland. Another thing you may not of noticed, the ec and monetary union was already tried in the 1870's And failed, this I'd only a rerun. But Ireland like Scotland will be free! Sorry to disillusion you, Regards Highlander
Obviously because of your lack of understanding on the subject, we have nothing to free anyone but ourselves. Never have Scotland or anyone from Scotland held sway over the political system ruling the Irish nation. But you have a nice day. Highlander
It's no problem of mine that they stick two fingers up to the democratic wishes of the vast majority of the Northern Irish people.
Apart from King James VI and I of Scotland, England and Ireland, and the Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland - George Hamilton-Gordon (1852-1855), Arthur Balfour (1902-1905), Henry Campbell-Bannerman (1905-1908 ), who was also the Chief Secretary for Ireland, and Andrew Bonar Law, who you could consider to have been Scottish, who was in office from 1922 to 1923. Add to that those Scottish PMs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland since what is now the Republic of Ireland seceded from the UK in December 1922, such as Alec Douglas-Home, Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, and you can now see that the Scots have held sway oveer the political system ruling the Irish.
See this link for more information. I'm can't remember what the source for me was; I've known for quite some time.
bLiar brown, Miranda and brown who gave the Bank of England to the aristocracy? You cannot blame he scots for these degenerates and liars. Alex Hume who may have a Scottish name like the earl I'd Elgin the duke of sutherland, Or morimor of Inverness, but English titles and English aristocracy but you can always go by there English titles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Bruce,_1st_Earl_of_Elgin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_of_Sutherland You might feel that your perochial outlook has merit, it hasn't! Smell the coffee! Highlander
Again, you ignorance is showing! There is one Ireland, one part is annexed by another nation state, doesn't mean it's right does it mean that it cannot revert back! The north supports the IRA, and the unionist cause, typical pointing one against the other, but the input and he money comes from your reprobates. Regards Highlander
Thanks for that. Remember, I'm just a dumb American with fifty states and about thirty different warring factions to study at any given time so I'm just doing my best to keep up overseas while I still have the right to form educated opinions.
What do you mean? Are you talking about British state involvement in Ireland or you are talking about British who are living in Ireland? Well, you could make it much simpler and grant the USA citizenship for all those British living in Ireland and solve the issue.
I think you're late to the convo... it was a question. Btw, what's up with that whole Scotland Referendum thingy??? http://www.scotreferendum.com/reports/scotlands-future-your-guide-to-an-independent-scotland/ I'm intrigued!
Theyre on their own, no more government handouts from london or the british public. Its sink or swim time. Theyre pretty much a burden on society anyway and not a very nice ppl to boot.
The referendum is about the potential for Scotland to secede from the UK. This is an incredibly flawed idea. If you really want to keep pace with it then I suggest looking at the BBC news website every now and again as it's a hot topic here in the UK.
I swear giving the Scots a parliament was among the dumbest things we did. As for Scot's themselves I've actually found most of them to be quite nice people although a bit mad but not all of them.
Simple answer is; the irish cant be trusted to run a stable, efficient economy or society and being so close to the uk they were deemed to be in an immediate position to disrupt civil society on the mainland. In other words, they are the child that left home too young and got into alot of trouble that they couldnt handle without daddies help.
