This is a well-written, well-sourced summation of the kind of crap the Trump administration pulls in an effort to make Trump's off-the-cuff lies and fantasies seem reality-based.
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...times-officials-tried-fabricate-trumps-truth/

    The bullet-point examples:

-- In January 2017, after the media reported on Trump’s paltry inaugural crowd size, resulting in enraged but preposterous pushback from Trump, he dispatched then-press secretary Sean Spicer to tell multiple lies buttressing his stance. As Glenn Kessler crucially noted, some of these were part of a prepared White House statement. Trump also ordered his then-acting National Park Service chief to hunt for helpful photographic evidence. The NPS does not estimate crowd sizes, and the official was shocked, but he carried out Trump’s request, finding nothing,

-- After Trump repeatedly alleged widespread fictitious voter fraud in 2016, the White House set up an official commission to “study” the issue. When it flopped, a dissenting member
explicitly declared the motive was to make Trump’s lies true. Remember that this was rooted in rage at losing the popular vote.

    -- When Trump
declared before the midterm elections that “criminals and unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in” with migrant caravans, multiple officials tried to bolster this claim by offering an official-seeming statistic about terrorism arrests that was entirely spurious and proved nothing of the kind.

-- When Trump vowed a surprise 10 percent middle class tax cut before the midterms, officials
were caught off guard, but nonetheless sprang into action to try to create the impression this was a real promise by, for instance, discussing a nonbinding pledge. The tax cut never happened.

-- To justify suspending the credentials of CNN’s Jim Acosta after he annoyed Trump, then-White House press secretary Sarah Sanders
shared a video that experts determined had been deceptively edited to make Acosta look physically abusive toward a press aide.

-- To fear-monger for his wall, Trump repeatedly told stories about traffickers tying up migrant women and silencing them with tape. After The Post flatly
debunked Trump’s assertion, a top border official circulated an internal request for “any information” that would support the claim.

-- To buttress Trump’s distortions of the migrant threat, the Department of Homeland Security
produced a slick official presentation about the border that claimed nearly 4,000 known or suspected terrorists had been blocked from entering the United States. But this number had nothing whatsoever to do with efforts to cross the border, a distinction multiple officials also dishonestly fudged.

Not only does this list show government officials lying and obfuscating in an effort to make Trump look good after the fact -- it also demonstrates Trump's habit of simply making stuff up. It also highlights Trump's massive pettiness -- his obsession with crowd size, for example. There is no truth too small for Trump to lie about, and then waste official resources trying to somehow prove that his lie is true.

    Trump is a dishonest 5-year-old.

Dems have spent 3 years chasing geese and all this time Trump was ineligible for office, as a 5 year old?

Deep down we're mostly just regular people with good intent, having a chuckle with the other side from time to time is an essential feature of any functioning republic.

Agreed. And that's how polarization is slowly wrecking our republic. When every election is a "Flight 93" election, you don't have to hold your own leaders to any standards.

When we have these very public leaders we rally behind on opposing sides it is easy to view everyday people as their minions, and to deny their agency.

From there it is a short bus ride to a whole lot of horrible things.

And that's Hoosier, folks! Presented with a post chock-full of facts (and, if he had bothered to read the linked article, TONS of links to back up those facts), he declares there are no facts!

Unsurprisingly, he also thinks human-caused climate change is a hoax. Or, depending on the day, denies that any warming is happening at all. Now you can see how he does it: by simply denying the existence of facts.

    Give him a hand!

LOL... another Leftist that can't put a thread in a proper forum. That makes this not a CURRENT EVENT.

This is an opinion piece for sure.

*Shrug*. Mods can move it if they like. It's referencing Sharpiegate and putting it in perspective.

Is forum etiquette the only thing you've got to say?

Oh... so it is about "Sharpiegate".

You could have just added this opinion piece to one of the many other TDS threads on the less than important event.

    Also, no women were taped.

Systematically raped maybe, but there was no tape involved at any point.

    Orange man bad.

Trump is indefensible. Even his most ardent defenders around here have clearly thrown in the towel and can't be bothered disputing his daily stupidity. We're talking about a guy who thinks hurricanes should be nuked. There's no way to support that.

-you Democrats care more about Trump's inauguration crowd size than Trump apparently. It has zero bearing on people's life...... Move on lol
-Trump isn't the first person to allege Democrat voter fraud that's why people say dead people vote Democrat. Also Democrats do entice illegal immigrants to come to their states and they changed the census so more illegal immigrants would be counted to boslter their EC numbers in states like California
-so your saying that their aren't criminals mixed in with illegals coming across the boarder? So Trump is manufacturering all the allegations of sex trafficking? Wonder how much he paid Obama to say the same?
    - yep Trump says alot of crap he has no intention of actually doing here's your first real point against Trump imo
    - Jim Acosta acted like an angry girlfriend when you stayed out too late with the guys asking dumb hostile questions just cause he doesn't like Trump or Republicans. Then when they took their (read not acostas) mic back he tried to play keep away lol anyway you slice it Acosta was is and forever will be a d bag
-if Trump lied about the dangerous conditions then so did Obama and Jah Johnson
-Case closed then our borders aren't one of biggest weak spots in security then

You guys have a point about his lies at times but what ruins your creditability is bringing up stuff that doesn't matter to Americans daily life and hasn't been an issue in years like the inauguration size. Like a dog chasing his tail and for people who say the hate Trump's personality and lack of morals y'all sure tend to emulate him alot

Point out the lies that affect people's day to day life if you want to win. Pointing out random Bs make your side look just as petty as Trump except I'd rather have Trump's judicial nominees than any of these Democrats to be honest
