Despite an ongoing humanitarian crisis at the border, President Obama is set to announce a major expansion of his already liberal executive amnesty program, according to multiple White House friendly sources.

Yesterday, Time Magazine's Alex Altman reported:

When President Obama issues executive orders on immigration in coming weeks, pro-reform activists are expecting something dramatic: temporary relief from deportation and work authorization for perhaps several million undocumented immigrants. ...It’s hard to pin down how many people this would cover; it would depend on how the administration crafts the order. But the numbers are substantial. According to the CBO, there are an estimated 4.7 million undocumented parents with a minor child living in the U.S., and 3.8 million whose children are citizens. Around 1.5 million undocumented immigrants are married to a U.S. citizen or lawful resident, but have been unable to gain legal status themselves.

And Politico's Carrie Budoff Brown adds today:

The president has suggested privately that he would not go as far as extending temporary protections to all 11 million undocumented immigrants who would have qualified under the Senate bill. Instead, he’s weighing how to provide relief to subsets of the population based on family ties, longevity in the country or employment background. It’s unclear where he’ll draw the line, but advocates expect him to go far based on his initial statements that he wants to max out his legal authority.

Why has Obama changed his mind on the limits of his executive power so many times?

    Politics.....snip~

Think the rest of the Democrats will be onboard with BO just trying to use his Pen? Nothing new for BO in blaming the Republicans. He does so even with a Nation's Weekly Address. What say ye?

More on this BO Plan.

A foolproof plan to ease pressure on the border that’s currently being considered by the White House. Why force kids to make a dangerous trip through Mexico only to end up as illegal immigrants in the United States when we could go to them, grant them legal status, and send them north to America ourselves? It’s so crazy it just. might. work.

Minor footnote: Federal law doesn’t allow refugee status to be granted for fear of street gangs, only for fear of racial/religious/political persecution, but oh well. Legal details never stopped Obama before.

"If approved, the plan would direct the government to screen thousands of children and youths in Honduras to see if they can enter the United States as refugees or on emergency humanitarian grounds. It would be the first American refugee effort in a nation reachable by land to the United States, the White House said, putting the violence in Honduras on the level of humanitarian emergencies in Haiti and Vietnam, where such programs have been conducted in the past amid war and major crises…

The proposal, prepared by several federal agencies, says the pilot program under consideration would cost up to $47 million over two years, assuming 5,000 applied and about 1,750 people were accepted. If successful, it would be adopted in Guatemala and El Salvador as well…

Children would be interviewed by American immigration employees trained to deal with minors, and a resettlement center would be set up in the Honduran capital, Tegucigalpa, with assistance from international organizations like the International Organization for Migration…

[T]he draft proposal suggested that 35 to 50 percent of the applicants in Honduras could be considered for relief, a figure the White House said was inflated. The early draft, the White House said, was the most generous and least likely of the options the administration is considering. How many people are accepted is critical, because refugees qualify for public assistance upon arrival in the United States".

If Obama tries this idea, the pressure on him to expand the number of visas granted annually from 1,750 to many times that number will be instant and intense, precisely because this is a game of mass population absorption, not token gestures to a handful of the local citizens. In fact, this may even be the beginning of a new Orwellian transformation in the terminology used for this subject. First it was “aliens,” then it became “illegal immigrants,” then it became “undocumented immigrants” (or “undocumented Americans” for true Newspeak devotees), and maybe now we’ll see a concerted movement to dub all illegals “refugees,” even if they don’t qualify by law. It’s a short progressive leap from handing out asylum to people fleeing general street violence to fleeing “economic violence” or whatever. Why not them too? Why not everyone?

Naturally.....not much of anything that BO says can be close to the truth. So they might want to come up with some Experts and see what they say. Not politicians. Especially when it comes to questioning what they term children.

Which is another factor that the Demos need to be put in check with. As all that emotional sobbing for children don't pan out for teenagers who are just about to turn adult.

Since the Democrat Party position seems to be Wet Foot / Dry Foot, I expect Obama's amnesty will get a lot of praise from the Senate, whether he has the authority to do it or not.

Will he do it? He's already shown a blatant disregard for the law. But will he go against something he said as recently as March?

They came here by the train/bus load, they can be deported by the train/bus load. Mexico should be held accountable for letting them through.

Obama has planned this 'border crisis' for the last 3 yrs to make sure he gets to add 'immigration reform' to Obamacare and killing Bin Laden. It's all part of that 'fundamentally changing America' promise he made. Sounds plausible.

Now it appears alarms are going off in his own party. That's not surprising either. A lot of those Dems are up for re-election in a few months. All they need are more mad constituents.

0bama will hold off on more executive orders until after the elections to keep the support of Democrats facing elections. After the elections, Republicans will be more bold in facing 0bama because they get bad press challenging 0bama and are also worried about elections. The bottom line is that we need term limits to keep people from losing touch with reality and being bought by corporate or union interests.

Just because the last 3 Republican presidents supported it, and Wall Street, the Chamber of Commerce and the Koch Bros. support it, there is no reason Obama should support it. LMAO.

Yes Mexico should have a talk or two with us.....then they can show us their southern border and how bad their Security is. After they accept the offer they can't refuse.
