As the summer months begin, so does the traditional upward march of crude oil prices (The annual fire at a refinery should be coming soon as well.); and while conservatives and neoconservatives are quick to complain and point the finger of blame at Obama and the Democrats, they are equally quick to oppose any option that does not require fossil fuels.

The right-wingers want to expand the use of coal, but have they looked at the air the Chinese breathe in Beijing? That is what comes from using it as the primary power source with no controls on the filth it produces. But then, conservatives and neoconservatives are in denial of the need for those job and profit killing environmental regulations.

The conservatives and neoconservatives are also willing to stand by and watch as “fracking” to increase natural gas production pollutes more and more nearby ground water. For some unknown reason, right-wingers believe clean drinking water is not necessary.

Conservatives and neoconservatives falsely believe that only corn can be used as a renewable source for bio-fuels. However, several perennial grasses (which, in the past, have been considered field nuisances by farmers) and hemp (which is also considered one of the strongest natural fibers) can be produced for less, need less water to grow, require only a small fraction of the chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and generate far more energy per acre than corn. This leaves the more fertile U.S. soil for use to produce food crops while allowing farms in less productive regions to thrive.

(It is to be noted that conservatives and neoconservatives will argue that hemp is used to produce illegal drugs, but as usual, they are wrong. The truth can be learned at the following link: http://hempethics.weebly.com/industrial-hemp-vs-cannabis.html . Since it is the truth, right-wingers will deny its validity.)

As a part of Big Business, Big Oil has always had a strong ally in the right wing. These folks are fighting every effort to wean the country off fossil fuels. They mistakenly believe that mankind’s pumping pollutants into the atmosphere has nothing to do with climate change, which is every bit as ignorant as their beliefs that crude oil and natural gas resources are unlimited, and that Big Oil will not rape the consumers at every turn.

Job security? In the U.S.? Not anymore, corporate profits are too important. Employers demand loyalty from workers, but it is with growing rarity reciprocated.

"The price of oil is.. is attributed to two oil men in the White House and their protectors in the United States Senate"
~ a pandering Nancy Pelosi, when gasoline prices spiked during the Bush administration

    "....a failure of Washington policies"
~ a pandering Obama, when gasoline prices spiked during the Bush administration

“For the well-off in this country, high gas prices are mostly an annoyance. But to most Americans, they are a huge problem, bordering on a crisis ...”
~ a pandering Obama on the 2008 campaign trail

As stated in my OP, conservatives and neoconservatives will blame Obama and the Democrats. Never Big Oil or their own demand that only further development of fossil fuels be pursued.

    Right-wingers are indeed predictable.

Only the abjectly foolish would say that the President has the power/influence to control oil prices. He could, if our laws allow it... but as things are he have very limited control (if any) over the price of oil.

"Speculation" about oil prices (on the WORLD MARKET) is what drives the price primarily.

Ironic....given the fact that your pandering, deceitful progressive heroes and their criminally complicit media whores were blaming a right-wing administration for high gas prices a few short years ago.

Now, of course.... in your deceitful little progressive world....high gas prices are somehow STILL the right-wing's fault....

despite Obama being almost a year into his second term....

despite his "plan" to "necessarily skyrocket" conventional energy costs...

despite his own appointed Energy Secretary's public declaration that "we" need to "boost" the price of gasoline to "the levels in Europe"

    despite this pretty damning illustration....

Gold value has been dropping. Oil price manipulation will raise the investment return value of both oil and gold and help increase the wealth of the one percent. This WILL please the conservatives and neoconservatives no end.
