Never mind the stupidity and bigotry of assuming "ESL learner" means "probably an illegal immigrant." Or the simple inhumanity of turning kids over to law enforcement in order to avoid educating them -- the very definition of trying to visit the sins of the parents on to the kids. There's also a few small legal hurdles, like a decades-old Supreme Court decision. To their credit, the rest of the GOP caucus quickly denounced the proposal.
