“We have forgotten God, and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own” Abraham Lincoln.

Over the last few decades, Americans have seen the destruction of the institution of marriage between a man and a woman, the removal of God’s Word from schools and the public sphere, and the aborting of millions of babies. Many of the men and women who died for our freedoms did not die for what we are becoming today. Many gave their lives in order that we would be “one nation under God,” not above God.

For Your Tomorrows We Gave Our Today
A Fifth Division graveyard sign in Iwo Jima, Japan, states it well: “When you go home, tell them for us and say, ‘For your tomorrows we gave our today.’” What a travesty when we fail to honor those who gave their lives for the freedoms we now enjoy. This Memorial Day, let’s remember those who gave their lives and those who continue to defend our freedoms.

In the words attributed to Father Dennis Edward O’Brien, USMC who served in World War II:

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.

    Privileges Above Principles
Let’s be very clear on this: “A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both” (Dwight D. Eisenhower). Historically, we know that God judged those nations who continually tolerated sin; wrong choices had devastating consequences.…

et us living now remember those who fought and died so that we might be free today. Let’s remember and honor the values, tradings, people, and ideals that they sacrificed their all for. On this Memorial Day let us consecrate their memory to God and renew obligations to be a blessed One nation under God, in Whom we trust.

If a god or creator does exist I would think it would probably make it upset to see some of it’s creations using their name as a weapon by which to control and injure other parts of its creation.

Imagine using dead soldiers to push your religion…

Thanks! I’m glad that you liked it. I noticed no thread dedicated to our fallen heroes here today and found a moving one to share here.

    Which religion?

    2 Chronicles 7:14-15
    New International Version

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.

I’m not practicing anything here. I simply asked a question. What I quoted was originally directed at His people at that time then in Israel. It is applicable to any theistic religion at any time.

How so? It simply quotes historical figures who led our nation in times of war. Religious speech is as protected public free speech under the first amendment as any other speech is. The article is right on in what it says. It’s sad that even on a day like today that the secular minded can’t handle a religiously based tribute to our fallen troops and their/our exceptional American nation.

Saying that gay people shouldn’t be allowed legal rights and women should lose bodily autonomy isn’t a religious based tribute to our fallen soldiers. It is a religious based attack on other Americans.

I'm sorry - I simply will not let someone who supported Donald Trump, the literal Poster Child for the 7 Deadly Sins, lecture me on morality - no ****ing way, dude.

You have no say in the matter. I supported Trump for what he promised and to me he kept or tried to keep almost all of them. What he did in his private life 10 or more years before deciding to run for office had no impact on him while in office. There were no repeats of such behavior. Christians can and must forgive when one approaches us seeking our guidance and support.

So, do you think God loves a gay person less than a straight person?
Does he love the woman who got an abortion because the boyfriend didn't want the child less than other woman, who never had an abortion?
Does God love the Iraqi dying for the freedom of their own country less than the American soldier dying for the freedom of their country?

If God does those things, he can't be all-loving.

Also, it is a strange thing to use war to promote Christianity. Jesus, who turned the other cheek, was all for promoting change through peace, not war.

Prayers aren't allowed in schools anymore but when there is a school shooting everyone wants to pray.
