Open carry activists threatened a Texas law maker in his own office:

As evidenced by this video, these people are obviously on the fringe and represent a growing problem in the United States; it only stands to reinforce the valid reason to eliminate open carry in America.

This isn't the first time that Open Carry Tarrant County has done stuff that hurts our cause. They were the same group that was kicked out of Target last year. You could go to any Texas gun forum and we will be having the same discussion about them. The guy that kept saying "Don't touch me" was a confrontational idiot. He needs to be kicked out of the group. There is a difference between standing up for your rights and taunting someone into violating your rights and making veiled threats.

I think we will pass SB 195 this year, but it will be in spite of OCTC and not because of them. Just today, we changed the rule for forcing a vote in congress to a 3/5 majority from a 2/3 majority. Our moderate speaker of the house is the reason we haven't voted on open carry in the last couple of sessions. This rule change and the more conservative, governor, and lt. governor will help SB195 along. Putting this off until this congress may have given us a less watered down law. Earlier bills required a CHL for open carry. SB 195 is Constitutional carry.

I think that I can agree with you that OCTC has done things that hurt your cause; fortunately more level headed people are out there pushing your cause.

Most of them were just fine. The "Don't touch me" guy was giving veiled threats with "that won't go well" type comments if they try to get physical with him. It wasn't a direct threat, but it wasn't helping his cause. He needs to save those comments for when he is joking with his friends or is truly threatened.

The part of the video about Pennsylvania is complete BS. The new law is about municipalities violating the state preemption law. It is illegal for municipalities in PA to have gun control laws. Many of them did so anyway in violation of the preemption law. Before, one had to be charged to have standing to sue a municipality over their illegal laws. Now, anyone can sue.

I closed the video as soon as I saw Cenk Uygur's ugly mug.I don't view him as a credible journalist or even social commentator.

That being said, I saw the video else where and didn't really see how they "threatened" him beyond saying they'd vote him out. I'd honestly be more embarrassed about how the office staff reacted as they seemingly lost all sense of professionalism right in front of a camera. That being said, I don't think this is the right way to go about furthering our cause and makes the entire firearms community look bad.
