I don't know about for the PS3 , haven't looked, but there is a decent variety of Indie games for the 360..

And most of the games available arent rubbish either. They may not all be block buster game of the years, and they may not all be games YOU enjoy, but there are plenty of quality games out there for consoles.

As for the graphics , to me that's a non issue The 360 and the PS3 are both capable of superb graphics , your claim in akin to saying that your 14MP camera produces better pictures than my 12MP does. Well yes, that is technically true, but to the eye who can tell the difference?

I would suggest that you look up comparison vids between PC vs console of BF3 if you don't think that there is any difference. There is a HUGE difference in graphics between a console and even a mid range PC these days. Textures are darn fugly on consoles, the draw distances are a joke, I can instantly tell a game that is a poor port if I have loading screens every five seconds because levels on consoles have to be made smaller. Gran Turismo 5 which is a game I have been drooling over for years looked like crap compared to even cheap racing games on the PC and they spent oodles of money and time making GT5. With some tweaks Far Cry 3 looks a hell of a lot better on the PC than on the console for sure.

Crytech, Bethesda, Obsidian, Dice, ProjectCD and other developers have been complaining about how consoles are hindering game design for a couple of years now. If that doesn't tell you that they are way outdated I don't know what will.

As for the games that is opinion base but what isn't opinion based is that the vast majority of those game are not worth $50 or $60. At least STEAM pricing is more inline with what the game is actually worth and if they do charge to much, it is only a matter of a week or so before the price is dropped. Good luck waiting for a price drop on a console game at gamestop......ain't going to happen anytime soon.

even that is an opinion. What may be a $60 game to you may not be to me etc etc. Personally I feel most are not worth it, that's why I only buy 3 or 4 new games a year.

The years of hard core gaming is now past. Both the next xbox and the ps4 are going to be advertised as media center first and game console second. Both company have already said so. People taste has also moved on and today people tends to play more casually then they did before. While the AAA titles still bring in some cash, they can barelly touch what Angry Bird or Minecraft did.

I would find a guide online and build my own pc. You can save several hundred dolalrs and get only and exactly what you need. The thousand dollar computer I bought four years ago can play any game today, just not on high settings. You can justify the video card to your wife if you setup the pc to have home entertainment capabilities. That's the only hardware in the a pc that is completely targeted towards gaming.

I think you could put together something decent that isn't necessarily a BEAST of a computer for not much more than a new game console costs. Maybe even the same or less, especially if you can cannibalise some parts from the old P4, like case, power supply, hard drive, optical drive..

Comparatively speaking though, you could have bought several game consoles (at least at today's prices, maybe not the sticker price when they were first released) which can run all of the latest games on full settings, for the same price of that 1 computer.

I feel like casual gaming is going to ruin the gaming industry, as people who buy Angry Birds will be catered to rather than the hardcore gamers.

Sadly, you're right. As long as I can play my RPG's and shooter games, I'm fine.

I think gaming has gone more indie than anything else. That's why you see more games being talked about on smart phones or tablets. Furthermore, a lot of people like the games on Xbox Live & Playstation Network.

More to the point, big gaming publishers/developers continuously push out re-hashed versions of the same game. If we look at many of the games we play today, chances are they are sequel to the original game we love (IE: Halo, Gears of War, WoW, The Sims, Madden, etc). There are very few fresh new games. I try to find games that are completely off the radar, but that's nearly impossible as companies are more about making billions of dollars than creating games folks love. I'm currently waiting for FortNite (http://fortnitegame.com/) to come out. However, the head designer of Epic games (Cliff Bleszinski) left the company, I still remain hopeful it will be of worth while.

In the end, this is one area that I've been wanting to get into. It's a hard industry to break into, so I've been looking to potentially have an indie company and build it from there. How well that goes, that remains to be seen as well
