The motive is already laid out. It is policing our moral values. There is absolutely no way an abortion if made illegal would be easier to obtain then it is right now...

It's the same fallacy as suggesting walls don't work at the border because of airplanes.

Good example. Immigration laws can be enforced and a wall will help mitigate the damage cause by the flood of illegal aliens, who are being welcomed under the guise of it being moral! Sanctuary cities and free health care for those in their child bearing years is the right thing to do, right?

Using morality as the basis for government interference will lead to more gun control even though results show that society is worse off.

Morality is the basis behind excessive taxation even though results show that society is worse off and poverty increases.

Results are all that matter. Morality is subjective. Those that don't like guns, abortions, gay marriage, marijuana, or anything that others find to be immoral, should live in a manner consistent with their beliefs and stop trying to force their beliefs onto others.

Morality is the back bone of most of our laws. Murder. Rape. Battery. Threat of violence. It's mostly based off of right and wrong moral values. This is one of those things that morally wrong and needs to be stated as such.

NO, laws are NOT based on morals....morals change from person to person, time to time, place to place....they are as flimsy as a fart in the wind.

Laws are based on what's in the interest of society.
Rape , theft, murder, speeding, other crimes cause disruption and chaos in society and THAT is why they are illegal.

While they do cause disruption and chaos. Same sex marriage. Religious freedom. The second amendment. Walking your dog on a leash. Speed limits on roads. Slavery. Discrimination. Women's right to vote. There are plenty of laws which we abide by and have changed based on our moral values.

Abortion is the killing of another person. This argument has gone on for what? Half a century with the public divided on the topic almost down the middle. It's not going away anytime soon. Some places should be more morally against the act seeing as how many people are pro life. And as we learn more through science about the specifics, the harder abortions are to ignore.

    .

Uh, you think those things cause chaos? WTF?

Name them....and people abide by laws because they don't want to go to jail.

Nope , it's the killing of a fetus.

Nope, the majority of Americans believe abortion should be legal.

    .
Abortion is never going away, not as long as women have unwanted pregnancies.

It has been around, legally and illegally for hundreds , if not thousands, of years.

How can a "place" be morally against something?

What "specifics" make abortion hard to ignore? The science involved in abortion has been around for awhile..

OK, let's shut down all the gambling and casinos because some people think gambling is immoral....think that'll work? :)

Oh ya, and stop dancing since some people think that's immoral :)

Can't she get legal, competent medical care by going to another State or country? If so, then how would my proposed laws put an end to legal, competent medical care?

If abortion became illegal, how the hell would that be MY personal beliefs becoming law?

And how would such criminals be relevant if abortion was illegal?

And who exactly would be performing these abortions?

Is the unborn a human life, yes or no?

When you make a service illegal, it stands to reason that the service will be harder to get. Anyway, it doesn't even NEED to result in fewer abortions. It's simply that murder is wrong and it should be prohibited in whatever way possible. There's no evidence that the law against murder prevents unincarcerated people from committing murder. People will always murder! But because murder is morally wrong, it must always be illegal. The same goes for abortion!

:) The same goes for drinking alcohol, dancing, gambling...ban 'em all !!!!!.... because some people think they're immoral...:)

BTW, polls have always shown that most Americans want abortion to be legal...they don't think it's immoral..

Thats easy to say, but thinking it through, there is no way these particular laws could benefit society. When faced with these questions, people have to run to others issues that no one is arguing. Your right to swing your fist ends where my nose begins. Your right to believe abortion is immoral ends where here uterus begins.

Also, since you brought up convenience, the concern for human life seems to disappear once the baby takes a breath. There are thousands of children that will never see the inside of a loving, permanent home. Those with a genuine concern for human life are not waiting for the government; they are stepping up and making a difference.

You are just repeating yourself to avoid having to think of ways abortion laws could be enforced or benefit society.

Let's take it one at a time to make it easier for you:

Can't she get legal, competent medical care by going to another State or country? If so, then how would my proposed laws put an end to legal, competent medical care?

It wouldn't. Your proposed laws would have no benefit whatsoever. In fact, they would cause more harm than good.

Yep - SOME people. It's not only SOME people who think that murder is immoral.

It would only shut down legal, competent medical care for that location. Those seeking such care would simply take advantage of the thriving medical tourism industry these proposed laws would create. That leaves us with the simple fact that abortion laws cannot be enforced and have no benefit to society.

Yet the laws you propose can only lead to shielding the number of abortions from view so they can be ignored. There are thousands of children that will never see the inside of a permanent, loving home. Why are they so easy to ignore?

You're assuming that every woman will be in a position to do that.

I made no such assumption and have already addressed that issue. Remember the example of the woman dying of infection from a back room abortion because her fear of incarceration prevented her from seeking competent medicare? Your proposed laws would disproportionately affect the poor. Your challenge is enforcing these laws to the point of benefiting society.

Who exactly would be performing these so called "back room abortions?" You seem to know that it will be people with no medical background.

It's YOUR standard that a law should only be passed if it can be proven to benefit society.

Your proposed laws prevent you from knowing who.

What good is a law that does not benefit society? I didn't even ask for proof; I asked for an opinion and you were not able to describe how such a benefit could be achieved.

You're saying that these "back room abortions" would definitely be dangerous. How could you possibly know that if you don't know who would be performing them?

So every single law on the books benefits society? I'm sure that you don't believe that.

I never said that and Im surprised you were not aware of the dangers. Please research why the wire hanger is used as a symbol for pro choice.

There are plenty of laws that do not benefit society. We are discussing abortion laws and so far, you have not been able to demonstrate a benefit.

    Are you giving up?

I disagree; many don't have the same fear of jail as you apparently do. I know some who have ZERO fear of it. But they still abide by many laws, and I, and they, do it out of a sense of morality.
