Quite the opposite. Left Leg Moderate, meaning I lean to the right, but sometimes fall that way completely. Yeah yeah, cheesy... thought it was clever at the time though.

Very typical gripe from liberals. If 9 out of 10 people in a room are libs, they'd complain about the 1 conservative being there. Total control is necessary.

 

2:1 ratio of hard right to left/center-left and now both advisors are hard-right.

 

Actually, the majority of the Mod team are right leaning, I believe. We do try to keep it balanced, but we can't add any more liberals until we find someone who can actually follow the rules.

 

LLM is not 'hard right' (correct me if I am wrong) and he/she was actually my choice - he/she was recommended by me simply because of his posting style and ability to follow the rules. If you follow the rules, and other liberals followed the rules, we might be able to add some more!!!

 

Lefties can't keep from being banned long enough to make advisor.... much less mod.

Maybe they should lower the standards in the name of equality, eh?

I was just playing with you! Really in an debate forum I like balance, both left right and middle men! Variety is definitely the spice of life. I lean heavily conservative probably because they are right [ha ha] most of the time, no not really my rightness is because of my religion which usually leans conservative but not always. So I like you lean one way but often go the other way. I lean right but sometimes shock my conservative/ hawk friends by voting far left or pinko commie' liberal on some issues, especially law and order stuff (we have a corrupt justice system) and freedom (less cops less drug laws) censorship (the gov should stay out of our bedrooms and do little censorship) etc issues....OH! in addition I meant to say 'welcome to the forum'. So, welcome to the forum!!! Lastly, thank you for taking on the job! It's not easy, often its sometimes thankless and lonely at the top eh? But it does have its perks! It takes an unselfish individual to do a mod job.

It always depends. Surprisingly, if left leaning poster's rule violation is addressed, the mod is ALWAYS wrong, and a right winger. If a right leaning poster is addressed, the mod is, of course, wrong, and a liberal.
So you see, in the end, we are pleasing everyone equally.

 

Why not? If we as a society are going to do so for things that really matter, like Medical schools, law schools, police academies, the Presidency.

Might as well do so at discussion forums on the internets too.

After being a member of the staff as a moderator, myself at another site.

I don't know whether I should pity you, or congratulate ya Leftleg.

 

This candidate was recommended by a Mod on the left. We go by a member's record; the quality of posting history; and their ability to be "fair" and follow the rules. We also have a questionaire they must complete. IF we get nominations only to find that member has many violations and infractions, etc......they get passed up.

We're not blind or stupid. While we have no access to the machinations of the mod board and have no access to any sort of accounting in regards to infractions and how subjectively or objectively they are meted out, we can, however, get a pretty good idea of the political and personal leanings of individuals based on their posting history; at least when the search function is actually working...

We, at least those of us who have been here for a few years, can see the "writing on the wall" and the movement of this board to promote mostly individuals who are solidly right-wing.

I find it hard to believe that the current mod board would make any serious consideration of a "liberal", and not just an individual who is "center-left" given that the majority of the mod board is openly hostile to "liberals". Yet, there seems to be little hesitation in regards to those who are solidly, and in most cases, emphatically right-wing. We're not just talking a "slight" imbalance here, we're talking a large majority of mods who consider anyone to the left of them as being politically inferior to them and it shows in their modding style, even if it is subtle and possibly unconscious.

I also find it hard to believe that all "liberals" are unable to follow the rules. This wouldn't have anything to do with the tremendous imbalance in the mod board though, would it? I mean, it wouldn't influence the OVERALL way in what is determined to be "flaming", "trolling" and/or "offensive" would it?
