Previous polls have not addressed the crucial issue of FISH. Instead they have addressed seafood and neglected FISH altogether. In order to redress these concerns, this poll is devoted to FISH. Please vote on this magnificent and timely poll. - - - Updated - - - After considerable and deep deliberations, I have opted to vote for salmon. What about YOU?
I picked salmon. Although I have to admit that one of the best fish dishes I ever had was some kind of southern cajun catfish. Unfortunately that was a one time thing and I don't know the recipe. I do know how to make salmon about 4 different ways though. Completely agree with the fish fries in Wisconsin. It doesn't bet any better than beer battered fish.
there really is only one fish which when deleted from this poll makes the poll guy really suspect.....WALLEYE http://us.cdn4.123rf.com/168nwm/yli...77638-fried-potatoes-with-fish-on-a-plate.jpg
lobster, shrimp, scallops, oysters, crab, are the BEST kind of fish!!!!!! they taste sooo good. Everyone should eat them. much better than salmon.
Many years ago when I was stationed at the Presidio of San Francisco, one of the guys in my outfit loved to fish. He caught a couple of huge salmon in the bay and brought them home and cooked them on his BarBQue. Smothered them in butter and spices, wrapped them in aluminum foil, and cooked until they literally fell apart on my fork.
West Coast salmon is much better than East Coast. And looks different. but still aint nothing compared to Lobster and raw oysters, especially West Coast oysters.
Tuna. I use to eat canned tuna for bulking up, but now that I've discovered tuna sushi and sashimi - it's soo much better when it still has it's color. Man, now I want to go get sushi... - - - Updated - - - Baloney, mate. Maybe NY isn't so good, but Maine river salmon and Maine lobster are both the best I've had anywhere.
there are no West Coast lobster, from what I understand. have you had West Coast salmon? it tastes different, looks different, and I think its better. but still nothing compared to lobstah!!! how much is it per pound by you?
Good old southern catfish fry. None of this sissy fillet crap, catch 'em big and cut steaks, roll 'em in cornmeal and deep fry. Turn the leftover cornmeal into corn pone and serve with lemon and lots of icy cold beer. Mebbe some tater salad if you feel like you need some veggies.
Last time I was back home it was easy to find live lobster for 3.99/lb, 3.49/lb if you knew where to look like a local. And yeah I had Pacific salmon - I was in San Diego for a couple years and live just an hour outside of Seattle for about a year (btw, Seattle is by far my preference between the two), and I had both. It might just be because West Coasters prepare it differently, the ones I had were very creamy and were a bit fatty for a salmon. But over on the other side of the table, we East Coasters usually prepare it pretty light, as is the case with most food. Like Maine Lobster - my family and I can never understand why people from outside of New England think they've got to get garlic sauce, or some spices for lobster. That just ruins it. Just steam the damn thing and put it in a hot dog roll with mayo and lettuce, or just dip the meat straight into warm butter. Good food isn't so complicated. Much the same, when I have salmon it's pretty plain, apart from salt, butter, and maybe some pepper. And yeah there are west coast lobsters, but they look like Fallout: New Vegas mutants, and they taste like crap.
This thread is NOT for general seafood but for FISH. You have your own seafood thread for dealing with this kind of thing.
