Why is it important to Drink " some mean stuff ".I never understood that logic.Just like Guys in college who let themself get talked into getting really sick with drinking games. I fail to comprehend why any sane human would feel the need to join a group of Guys { Fraternity } who are compelled to demand humiliation as a ritual to get into their club. defies logic.Having to be made to feel like dog poop in order to join a group.
I didn't say it was important to drink mean stuff. I drank it because I wanted to. As for your bizarre rant about fraternities, I wouldn't know. I was never a member of a fraternity.
I don't think, in this case, it's really about a "necessity" to drink some mean stuff... I mean, I'm *loud censor beep to conceal age* and I still enjoy gettin ahold of some gnarly (*)(*)(*)(*) now & again and gettin pretty lit, but, then again, I enjoy drinkin... Not so much gettin super trashed, but, I enjoy my buzz...
Then let's break that down.Having worked in Advertising, what compelled you drink " some mean stuff " Was it the word mean.Like a challenge to yer masculinity.Because that explains a lot of what motivates the male Libido.Like Viagra. I hate that form or Peer pressure. It reminds me of the Brilliance of Charles Bukowski and - Barfly - where Mickey Rourke goes into a soliquoy about all the things he doesn't wanna be.Like a Fireman,a Cop,a Teacher,a Bricklayer ... etc. How he hates Obviousness. I,too, hate following the pack.I beat to a different drummer. I never could stand Frats.Even though I pledged a few and dropped out.
Sir Thaddeus is grounded so can't post on the forum tonight but wanted me to post his favorite drinks for him: 1. 2% milk. 2. Chocolate milk. 3. Sunny D.
What I drink the most: Magic Hat #9 (because it's decent and easy to find) What I like the most: New Glarus Wisconsin Belgian Red (which I can't find anywhere around here but have had on trips) The local brewpub also has some excellent beer, but sadly there's no way to bring it home.
What about - Hostel -. I just as soon have a nice half pint of pure Codeine. Or some good old fashioned Laudanum.
Magic Hat is cool... the other I haven't heard of? Decent? Hostel? I don't have a weak stomach, and that bothers me...lol I believe I'll pass on the other two...lol
My go to is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Onna side note, we have had a bumper crop of tomatoes this year. My wife (April Flowers) made home made tomato juice today and we combined it with some Three Olives vodka for an awesome Bloody Mary.
I'm a Real Ale drinker and CAMRA member. My preference is generally for very hoppy beers with a good dose of bitterness, especially with citrusy notes. Something like Wye Valley 'Butty Bach', RCH 'PG Steam', Timothy Taylor 'Landlord' or even Brewdog 'Trashy Blond' suits me fine. I also enjoy something darker, along the lines of Rhymney Dark or Hobgoblin, and something more balanced like Brains 'SA', or something a bit different like Cairngorm 'Blessed Thistle'. Pretty much any Real Ale is better than any of the tasteless, characterless, mass-produced, artificially stimulated, half-frozen chemical urine that passes for 'beer' in much of the world.
This kind of thing (a beer festival I spend a couple of days at this week) is my idea of heaven: Each of those barrels contains a different Real Ale (over 100 different ones) or real Cider (about 40 of them). There is a .pdf list of them, with tasting notes, here. Perfect way to spend a day or two!
Snap to all of that, but add Rev James and the products of Thornbridge brewery, for a start - but with the current wonderful surge of micro-breweries where do you stop? I am currently in Derbyshire, and there are good things everywhere here. CAMRA to power!
Sierra Nevada is Pure hype.No where near as delicious as they insist. It leads the pack when it comes to Boutique style beers. A far better Brewer that might be hard to find is one of the U.S. oldest Brewery ... : August Schell Brewery
