OK This is a comedy song but like most good comedy has more than a kernel of truth.

Tim Minchin is an Aussie and one of our more brilliant comedian/musicians, here he makes a point about expectations, beliefs and attitudes by looking at one controversial word and how it is used

“Sticks and stones may break your bones but words can break hearts”

BTW please watch the video before posting on the thread because it is going to be very obvious if you have not

You missed that people expected one word but got another?

No, that makes it a nice punchline, but takes away any conncetion to reality, because its no big deal in a woke Western society to insult or make hate speech against white men.

You asked me that before. I got the joke, everyone was expecting the N-word, while and there is a nice twist, when he in fact sing about gingers. Thats a nice twist. I dont see the true core you are talking about, as there is no taboo to mention the G-word. I can call him ginger, I can call every ginger on the street ginger, I guess 99% would not take that as an insult and definitely if anyone would feel insulted by that he would not get any support in his position. Its a nice twist, but where do you see the true core in it?

Ginger or more specifically, red headed women are attractive to me. Not a fan of ginger males though.

He wants to deflect the topic and talk about himself, a white man.

    The vanity.

Ginger ppl are offended though if you say for example "hey ginger". Youre likely to get a punch in the teeth.
