If you mean purge as in making absolutely certain that everyone working for the federal government overtly walks in lockstep with a particular party's ideology then yes. Obama did do just that, which is one major reason that today the nation has got Deep State problems. He certainly did it with the upper ranks of our military. You either believed what he believed about Peaceful Islam or you were out on your ear, period. But aside from scum bucket level political/ideological purity tests then so far the answer to your question would be 'No'.

Look at the former Yugoslavia ...

If there is enough suppressed hatred between 2 ethnic groups or more in a population, it can happen anywhere.

We can have a purge every election cycle. Unfortunately, the voters don't comply. They keep re-electing the same swamp over and over. So to answer your question, no.

Yes, congress has a whale sh*t level of approval, and have for years, but then each state tends to send their own representative back. ha ha ha. I guess theirs is fine but the other 49 states....horrible?

If only MSM had covered the Princeton Study the way it should have been covered! So that as many americans as possible understood that congressional record, over decades, evidence congress nor a president were actually representing the People, but only representing the elites.

I guess MSM didn't want the People to know the truth? Might upset the cart? And we would then send the status quo home and elect people who actually did their jobs as the People's representatives in this Republic? ha ha ha

It really was the most consequential and important study done for a very long time, revealing the truth. MSM ignored it. Yes, a free press! Yes, real journalism!! ha ha ha

Actually, I don't think the politicians themselves are inherently incompetent and corrupt. I think the government and the system is and the politicians get sucked up into it when they arrive in Washington. Members of congress don't vote their beliefs any longer. They vote the way their political party tells them to. And the voters continue to support the political parties financially. Sorry but we are the problem.

Voters? Who give the greatest, middle class Joes, or rich special interests? Of course the average joe kept sanders alive in the primaries, but what about his competition, hillary?

But you are right in part, in that there is a system in place in DC. And you either bend to it, or you don't get to come back, or are relegated into obscurity, dickless.

There may be several reasons that what Princeton evidenced is fact, that the People are no longer represented, but that isn't a working Republic when this happens. SO what is it then? If not a working Republic? Most people don't have a clue this is our reality. MSM, will not inform them. For whatever reason.

The rich special interests are voters too. They have money to use to influence voters but, by themselves, they don't have enough votes to sway elections. The problem is the voters.

Yes the problem are the voters, who have no clue they are not being represented in DC unless they are in the upper one percent.

Problems arise when the special interests, whose own self interests are damaging to 300 million americans, get what they want from politicians in DC. In reality, a tiny group of americans are represented, but the majority of americans get practically zero. A Republic? No.

It is a republic. It just happens to be a corrupt one. Thank the voters. They have done it by repeatedly re-electing the swamp.

The reason why the first poster said " in before lock" is that to create threads in the news sections more things are required. A source is required. A title that is the headline of said source needs to mostly match ( sometimes they don't fit) .... And you need to make an assertion IE an opinion based on the source you link. It also should be current news. If any of the above rules are not followed your thread will be closed usually in US and World News or Current Events.

In this threads case it should be closed or moved because I have no idea wtf your even talking about specifically because your OP is so vague. Purge? What kind of purge? No source to clarify and clicking this was a complete waste of time. No one here is a mind reader or has the time to read through an entire page of responses talking about different things. Hence the forum guidelines.

After repeated offenses offenders are banned. ( usually bots and trolls)

I've been in London many times when it has been 30C and the place just isn't made for it. If I'm in central London, I like hanging out in the shade in St. James's Park.

    About the civil war?

The north and south hated each other in much the same way we're experiencing now.
