Im not claiming that the pope is or could be the antichrist. Just want to open this up for discussion since there is scripture referring to it. Could it be possible?
"But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. Obama is a more likely candidate for the anti-Christ. He has an agenda to tear down this country's economy and rebuild it in a socialist model.
I do not recall Obama setting up an institution that speaks on behalf of God and then persecuting and killing Jews in the name of that God. (The Awfull Horror/Abomination of Desolation spoken of by Christ in relation to identification of the Anti-Christ) Perhaps this was not well reported .. do you have a link ?

There is no connection and there will be no one world gov't anytime soon. For those that want to look for a quazi secret group/cabal that has the power to control or influence countries .. it is no secret. "Someone" has to run the show. The raging masses are far too stupid to have any real power. Machiavelli outlined some of the "secret" philosophies used by rulers of his day in his writings. For revealing these secrets he was persecuted. Writings from Romans also go in to great detail on methods to control the masses. The son's and daughter's of those in power go to the same schools and rarely mix outside the circle. This is how it has always been and it is no different today. Not everyone is in the group of course and there is more than one group. It is the struggle between these groups that influences much of what goes on in the world. This may not be preferrable to some but it is better than letting the raging masses run things.
I think it interesting that the nation of Israel began with just a hand full of judges as its government. All the government consisted of were these judges to help settle disputes. Then the people clamored for a king so they could be like all the other nations. God spoke through his prophet Samuel and God gave them a dire warning for taking this path, however, such warnings were ignored and they wound up with Saul. If nothing else, it is a good read and can be found in 1 Samuel 8. It was their first move towards colletivism. Really, what we see from worldly governments is a constant move towards collectivism, whether it be Sharia law or Socialism etc. The idea is that if we can just gain power of "X" then we can control it and tame it and make the world a better place. It is a stark contrast to the Biblical example given above. Collectivism is a move for man to enslave his fellow man, as where God simply made us to be free. After all, God gave us free will so why would he then try to enslave us? The move towards collectivsm is insatiable and never ending. It's only climax can be a one world government of some kind.
Personally, I think this is a great move since it will usher in the anti-Christ, the Jews will be converted in Israel, and Jesus will return. I hope he is the anti-Christ.
Exactly what is the definition of the Antichrist? The ones I find is a world leader who denies God, or denies Jesus being physical, "And every spirit that dissolveth Jesus, is not of God; and this is Antichrist", am I the Antichrist? What is supposed to happen around the Antichrist? What happens if we just go with "Stalin is the Antichrist" and get it over with? Can the Antichrist come several times?
No the Pope is not charismatic enouph and he does not wield the kind of power hinted at in the Bible. Also it is believed he will come out of southern europe and the Pope is not from that part of Europe. Oh and to the comment about the hitler youth, all youth orginisation in Germany and Austria were forced to become the Hitler youth. So almost every boy was in it that was in a youth program before the rise of National Socialism. So I do nt believe you can realy count all of those boys and girls as nazis since they were forced to join.
