was just one of the reviews in arguably The Most creepy made for TV presentation ever.It was the 1964 Alfred Hitchcock Hour 's : ******** The Jar **** No finer elements were spared { stellar believable cast } Written by Ray Bradbury { short story } and Produced by Norman LLoyd. Of course directed by the Master himself { Hitch }. I Gar-own-Tee no one will walk away unimpressed or laughing. In fact, this kinda stuff stays with one. Just read the reviews at Imdb. If anyone has had the fortune or bad luck to see this very creepy Episode or would like to cite their own Most Creepy of Movies or TV presentations ... have at it. This is My choice of a real nightmare of a showing.
Sometimes when a Movie is TOO Creepy it is relegated to worthless. Some movies I cannot watch. They are SO Creepy they make me nauseaous.Like - Eraserhead - { 1977 } It is also poorly made.Cheap production.I mean,it had a budget of $ 20,ooo. Not even George Romero's cheapest is that cheap.Nor Roger Corman's.
Reading the reviews at Imdb { The last word for Movies and actors } I get a kick out of the reviews.Funny and odd how many considerate - Eraserhead - a near masterpiece yet also in the same review might consider it not a movie. That It's more art than movie. That it cannot be summarized { explained in thumbnail }.Meaning it is devoid of any understandably driven plot or denouement { ending }. I have real problems with Novels and Movies that suffer poor or unsustainable plot development and an ending. In fact,I loathe. Which is why a lot of Burt Reynolds vehicles are unfit for consumption. They're just silliness on top of machismo.Like virtually every scene. There has to be some degree of reality in order for Horror to work. But then that would eliminate - Hellraiser - { 1987 } and most shockers. I like - Hellraiser -.Not so much - Hostel - {2005} because it's just unbridled sadism and torture.Compare - Psycho - { 1960 } to - Hostel - and you are comparing Purgatory to Hell.
C'mon folks.I need help in locating Creepy movies or TV episodes. Twilight Zone and Outer Limits had enough to fill a Dumpster. How about this one. Colin Wilcox { lead female } in - The Jar - was the hysterical backwoods girl from - To Kill a Mockinbird - { 1962 }. She shied away from Movies like Harper Lee shied away from writing Novels.Lee writing only one. Miss Wilcox did a creepy Twilight Zone titled : - Number 12 Looks Just Like You - { 1964 }. It was creepy in the way she played her role. She made the role creepy. In a very different way than 2 years earlier in { Mockingbird }. She lived in a futuristic society where they had the ability to literally change overnight the complete looks of a person. However that person was a Beauty Queen.Or in the case of a male,a handsome bodybuilder. Her character was very deep Intellectually but also rather homely as far as looks. But it bothered her not a whit. Her Father taught her how to develop her mind, which was the most important of things for a mortal human. So she read and read and learned about great men and Philosophy and Literature and Theology. She had a Beautiful mind. But she was homely. This really came to bug the person in charge of running her society. It was considered unacceptable and even gauche for a person, passing up the chance at being Reborn. It is not reguired but peer pressure to a high degree is used if someone repeatedly turns down the transformative process. Colin's character liked her appearance since it is different from the other females. There are only a couple options as to appearance.basically a Blond bombshell or a Brunette bombshell. So now matter how dazzling in appearance, the other females in this futuristic society basically look just 2 ways.Like the blond or brunette bombshell. By the end of the episode, the creeps start to take over.Because no matter how beautiful one can make their appearance,we as mortals still live in our mind.It controls our thoughts and our personality. To think a future society can simply reduce mankind into beautiful objects for appearance sake is not very pretty at all.In fact,it could be a Hell all it's own. We don't know what Hell looks or feels like. But for Colin, having her mind taken from her { personality removed } was a Hell all it's own. Mankind surely must bear that in mind. Even in The Twilight Zone.
