Refugee. (sorry dropped an 'e' in title) One of my favorite Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers songs from their 1979 true breakout album Damn the Torpedos. And why? In part that great organ backdrop playing of Benmont Tench, most likely on an old Hammond C-3. The benchmark keyboard instrument for the music of rhythm & blues, rock and reggae coming out of the 60s & 70s. Original, and still member Benmont has played with so many greats including Johnny Cash, Don Henley, and Roy Orbison to name a few. Music video of original studio version. Then a live 5:01 live version with some great guitar work.

Down-to-earth rock star Tom Petty dies
Wed, Oct 04, 2017 - Tom Petty, an old-fashioned rock star and everyman who drew upon the Byrds, the Beatles and other bands he worshiped as a boy and produced new classics such as Free Fallin’, Refugee and American Girl, has died. He was 66. Petty died on Monday night at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles a day after he suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu, California, spokeswoman Carla Sacks said.
