Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA) says he anticipates that House Republicans will launch an investigation of how Democrat political pressure influenced AT&T and Verizon to blacklist One America News Network (OAN) in the new Congress.

With Republicans in control of the lower chamber and its committees, they will have new powers to launch investigations and call witnesses. In an interview with OAN, Rep. Carter said he would investigate efforts by Democrat members of the Energy and Commerce Committee, namely Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) and Rep. Jerry McNerney (D-CA), to pressure AT&T and Verizon to blacklist the conservative channel.…

…“That’s why it’s going to be important for us, in the 118th Congress to make sure, us being the Republican majority, that we’re having oversight in this. And yes, there will be an investigation to see what role members of Congress, members of the Democratic Party played in conservative censorship.”

The democrats pressured satellite TV companies to censor conservative media. A clear abuse of power. Also a violation of the st amendment using implied threat of regulation to force compliance. A much needed investigation.

Maybe no one, except for a couple of kooks, watch OAN and hence it was not profitable for AT&T and Verizon to continue with them.

Buddy Carter sounds like a *******n socialist, wanting to investigate the free market.

I hope something good comes of this. I've been with AT&Treason U Verse for probably 10 years or more. For a period of time during the Plandemic especially I enjoyed watching OAN perspective. Then AT&T removed it. I complained to no avail.

AT&Treason and the other telecoms did Dubya's dirty work in surveillance, and today does the dirty work for DNC and Biden.

OANN was not and is not a News organization. It's was and is Cult indoctrination. If OANN had an actual case, they would got to court vs have a hyper partisan mouthpiece hitman whining about "victimization".

The right wing entertainment network was unprofitable for AT&T and Verizon — do you feel companies should be forced to subsidize things because they match your agenda?

So should the federal government get into the business of requiring companies to carry certain channels?

Small government people only care about their principles until their OAN is taken away?

    could be,

some say Trump wanted the virus to spread and the reason Trump told the States to shutdown the economy is that he knew the economy was failing, and the only way for him to inject trillions into the mega corps was to use the virus crisis to do so, if that did not work, he would blame it on the virus, win\win either way as far as Trump was concerned

In this case it got involved in the business of making sure certain channels were no longer carried. Besides, it’s not so much the companies being investigated as it is the democrats who intimidated them into dropping OAN

So, not renewing contracts is censorship now under the RW mantra? What's next, the RW tells Fox that they must have "liberal" points of view on their show because they censor that idealogy?

Considering that every single Congress has renewed various elements of the Unpatriot Act without question, our elected representatives are not interested in investigating what they already know is illegitimate legislation.

A bit of trivia: the only Senator to vote against the Unpatriot Act was the Democrat Russ Feingold. The Powers That Be saw to it Mr. Feingold would never be in Congress again.

You can describe it as being the GOP's act, but the truth is that huge bipartisan majorities passed it and renewed it over the years. Our duopoly has no respect for the US Constitution. They offer only lip service.
