a more correct description of what the fed does is that they influence the money supply

also, the fed turns its net-profits over to the government

britain was in a much better position than america to finance a war, yet they lost

the netherlands, spain and france lent money to america and the continental congress issued paper money (not backed by gold or silver) to finance the revolutionary war

there's no single faction in control of any significant money supplies, world disorder inevitably sees that the best laid schemes of mice and men go often awry

Good question .. is Ben a puppet ? Who knows.

One comment I will make in relation to "conspiracy theories" is that I find these theories amusing for the most part. "Illuminati, Masons, NWO" and so forth. Many are based on trying to attribute some kind of Satanic influence to these groups and so forth.

My take is this. Of course conspiracies exist. Rich folks tend to hang out together and try to create an environment that helps them hold on to those riches.

I do not see this as a bad thing. Someone/group has to run the show.
If we have to rely on Politicians to get anything accomplished in this world we are not going to get anywhere.

Reliance on the raging masses to get something accomplished is foolhardy IMO. The raging masses are generally uninformed and ignorant.

I worked as a waiter in a high class joint for many years while in school. One time while serving a small group of "blue blood's" in a small private room one of the women was talking and said "Did you hear Lucy just completed finishing school"

I was like .. what is this now ?! Finishing school still exists ??

This is just one example of many and I also have friends in "the club".

When you are the child of a Saudi Prince you do not go to regular school. You go to a private school with the children other rich peoples kids from all over the world. The people you develop relationships with are either "inside the circle" or outside the circle.

This is based on the simple recognition that you either have the Money, Power, and Influence to make things happen in this world or you do not.

These people not only do get together to try and make things happen but they should.

Who else is going to ?

I thought the issuence of "cotton bonds" by the Confederacy was a very interesting example as well. When the Union managed to block the ports in Louisiana cotton bonds lost huge and the Confederacy's ability to finance the war suffered horribly.

considering his position, his personal finances are quite modest

his salary is set by congress at $180 k and has an estimated net worth of $1.15 million, he earned much of that from textbook deals

his children have had to borrow money for college and his wife is a school teacher

Every President that I can remember does what the Fed tells him to do.

Congress doesn't tell the fed anything.

There have been recent rumblings causes by Paul and a few others.. thats it.

Thats like asking to prove a negative. (Prove that God doesnt exist)

A President is not going to state publically "the Fed orders me around".

This paper goes through some of the interactions between the Fed, Congress and the President.

Bottom line is that the Fed pretty much does what it wants.

bernanke wouldn't spend all that time in front of congress answering questions if they didn't require him to do, the federal reserve act stipulates it

If I showed you any evidence that was contrary to your beliefs you would go into denial and start making up fantasy stories that had nothing to do with the evidence presented.
