I honestly believe its the Oscars just want to protect their image as being serious. Having a comedian actor with a history of controversy show up dressed as a middle eastern dictator probably makes that more difficult.

Comparing the grammys to the Oscar makes no sense.. They are two different event, organized by two different groups of people, to celebrate two different kinds of people.

 

If the usa dislikes islam so much, why not create your own comedy character for the oscars. To shout out anti muslim slurs to a world wide audience.

 

I'm comparing the behavior of organizers of 2 Hollywood events of similar importance; one event condoned making fun of Pope and Christianity; the other banned making fun of Muslims. Simple, really...

 

There are no anti-muslim slurs that anyone dare to say out-loud, for the fear of fatwa, or the fear of having your teeth knocked out by some enraged muslim. Compare this to the OP, whereas it's OK to make fun of Pope and Christianity and is not OK to show at the Oscars, dressed up as a middle eastern dictator. Least some angry Muslim take notice...
