    Good day everyone

I'm looking for help with more argument material for my sister on the subject of sagging pants.

I've been arguing a lot with her, her friend and my lady friend who all believe that sagging pants is a style, which technically, it may be, but I'm writing this because I'm out of words trying to convince them how gay a fad is that was popular amongst sixth graders in the 90s. Yes I mean gay literally. Urban legend says that this fad started with prisoners who sagged their pants as a temptation to be butt rammed. Now all the feeble minded kids seem to do this who desperately need to be part of a social group for friends. However, these girls boyfriends are not teens, they are in their 30s.

At the end of my argument I was told I'm judgmental and stereotyping. What's funny about that is there is something in common with all the boyfriends who sag their pants. They are all unemployed and living with their parents. One of them is in prison which I left out due to the sensitivity of the issue. And these guys are in their 30s.

Isnt' their a time to pull your pants up? Like a time you ask yourself, I'm done with self expression in order to be accepted into the social group of my liking and thinking fads of the 90s are still cool? I just don't get it. My attire is dorky but I don't fall under any particular social group just so I can fit into a crowd and be judged by them. I'd be embarrased hanging out with such losers.

Please assist me with more argument material when called out as being stereotypical and judgmental against D-bags that sag their pants. I'd like to hear your oppinions.

It has always confused me that this is a style associated with being bad, a delinquent, or a criminal. Sagging your pants and not tying your shoes is counter productive when having to run or get anywhere quickly. You would think that being able to run would be important to such people so it is a question I have asked of delinquents I see dressed in this style but have never received a logical answer for. Reminds me of a cops episode where a guy with sneakers that lit up when you move was caught quite easily in dark field he was trying to hide in. Hard to justify style choices like this if you are choosing to be or trying emulate a criminal.

Kids have a lot of options to be a bit different from their parents ... and be cool or looking sharp.. But, pants that sag more than 4 inches below the hip just look stupid... It looks like a person isn't smart enough to dress themselves.. Is THAT "self expression"?

IMO your comments tell more about you than I suspect you would like to know .In the nicest way, I suggest you shut TFU and let kids be silly kids .
You will all laugh in ten years .
Relax . Who cares about fashion history when you are young ? Besides , Gay fashion sense is usually brilliant .

LOL, running is definitely not an option with sagging pants. In fact, it's fun just watching them manage the steps going into the commuter train.

A legislator in Baton Rouge, Louisiana started a campaign against saggy pants and the slogan she choose was LOW PANTS? NO CHANCE.

Interesting... her campaign took place in Sept 2010... wonder if it's helped in Baton Rouge?

Ask your sister to draw the line for you. Where does "style" end and slovenliness begin according to her? Anywhere? If she doesn't draw the line anywhere then she's written off her own sense of fashion as having zero discernment, meaning her opinion on the subject is void. But if she draws the line somewhere, which I'm sure she will, then you should be able to lead her to the conclusion that walking around with your pants around your ankles violates her own sense of fashion.

Remember this look from the 1960s?

I had to wear a raincoat to get off campus dressed like that.

Problem is, it's not just "kids" who wear their pants around their ankles, it is adults too.

Why are you such an angry little man? It says a lot about you too. If you don't like the topic at hand, then ****.

It was one thing to wear your pants "baggy," it is a whole nother' thing to wear them below your ass. It is ridiculous, they can hardly walk and look like they are holding in a turd with every step. It's funny how back in the day it was baggy pants below your ass, now it's skinny pants below your ass. Odd isn't it?

Yep.. meaning young people over 21..

Bggy pants don't lend themselves to being hired for a job, do they?

I think some public schools are banning "saggy pants" due to it's affiliation with gang related activity.

If someone walked into my office right this moment for an interview dressed like that I would throw them out so fast they wouldn't know what hit them.

So this questions says a lot about me as well as employers across the entire nation? So what does it say?

I need to remind everyone that my sisters b/f and her friends b/f are in their 30s. We aren't talking about teens and I'm not talking about below the ass, just enough sag to make your statement.

I think its a matter of degree.. There's a difference between being fashionable and looking ridiculous... and 30 somethings should be able to ascertain the difference.

So you're trying to say most the population will sag their pants in the next 50 years?

I these are two totally different fashion statements. One is about womens freedom to express themselfs. The other is about ...

No.. I am saying that there's a time and place for everything.. and the "extremes" are rarely acceptable.

Fashion history is a fun subject... Pants halfway down you butt will pass and be replaced by some other fad... Its fun.. Unless you go to extremes .

What will they tell their grandchildren about the facial tattoos and piercings? That is another "extreme.

I don't really care one way or the other about sagging...

I personally never got into it when it was prevalent in the 90's...

Baggy pants, sure, I always wore those, but, never really dug sagging...

At any rate, even at 7 years old, I tell my son to have some pride in his appearance, as people will, whether they should or not, judge you on how you look...

But, then again, I decide what he wears day-to-day anyway, but, I do get on him about keeping himself up...

I still, to this day, when I'm out, sometimes wear hoodies, baggy pants, etc., but, then again, I'm not in the market for a job, nor does it matter to me what anyone thinks about me...

    I'm covered...

    But, that's just me...

    *shrug*

    Amen.

Fashion changes.. one year its slim jeans.. the next its full jeans.. but I see these young men who have strapped their pants BELOW their buttocks.. I am guessing with the aid of safety pins..

There is lots of play between being cool and NOT like you parents and looking like a fool.

Are you Dyslexic ? Where do you even get a hint of me not liking the subject?
Unlike your advice , which sounds like a boring Old Age Pensioner moaning , I was positive .
As for" little "? 183 cms . Past my peak but still around 265 pounds and like your ex Special Ops Director , General Albert Stubblebine , still feel sure I shall soon master the art of walking through walls .

Hoodies are functional and serve a purpose. Nobody needs to prove how normal people can sagg their pants because that isn't what this is about. Neither is getting a job. It's about underlying reasons why a 30 something year old feels the need to express themselfs in order to be accepted in a social group that is generally associated with low income and high crime. Is it retaliation against what's socially accepted as normal? Is it insecurity of feeling small in such a large world? I have no problem being invisible or even being associated with high class or laid back with shorts and sandles. But the oppisite?

All three boyfriends fit the profile of this styles stereotypes. Coincidence? And I'm the arrogant profiling stuck up one they tell me. The proof seems to be in the pudding.

6' and 265? ...that's a little on the heavy side Ray. I hope you have a regular exercise routine (for health reasons).

I'm over 6'4, and don't weigh that much.

    hahaha
