I mean it surely is smart on the Saudi part but as a country seeking independence of ME oil which we have done recently with the help of the Texas shale boom.. Is it frankly " cool " that the US allow the Saudis to own outright our largest oil refinery? We didn't allow the sale of one of our biggest ports to the United Emirates right? But.. This is ok? Thoughts please Ty for input http://money.cnn.com/2017/05/01/investing/saudi-arabia-buys-largest-oil-refinery-port-arthur/
Saudis are enemies of the United States and Bush, Obama, and now Trump should have/should cut off all ties and we should have bombed the **** out of those F-kers after we found out they were a part of 9/11.
Saudi Arabia is told to be one of your most important allies ... and this is pure business. On the other hand, they are evil Muslims and many Al Qaida and ISIS terrorist come from Saudi Arabia, as well financing of them too. Osama Bin Laden was Saudi ... only btw. Anyway ... now anyone knows why Saudi Arabia wasn't on trumps BS travel ban list, eh?
So it used to be owned by foreign corporations and now it is owned by one of them instead of two of them.
Well, there are 40,000 Americans living and working in Arabia. KSA arrested 46 terrorist from 6 different Arab countries this past week end. As for Motiva. KSA owned 50% and have apparently bought the ballance.
Yep.. that's right. It was originally built by Texaco in 1967 and I think Motiva has been expanded twice.
And of which confession were these 46 terrorists? Woops ... mostly Shiite and suspicious Huthis and Hezbollah. ISIS? Al Qaida? Ehm ... better silence!
urki said 32 of those arrested were Saudis, while the 14 others were from Egypt, Pakistan, Yemen, Afghanistan, Sudan and Jordan. The ministry previously identified the Medina bomber as a Saudi national and the Jeddah bomber as a Pakistani. http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2017/...016-medina-mosque-attack-170430171837891.html
Ultimately foreign investment helps the US because the more of it we have, and the more diverse the investor pools and industries with foreign investment are, the more stable the dollar remains over times. I would rather live in a country with 50% foreign investment than one with none because your currency would be far less manipulated.
And unless an American company buys Aramco foreign corporations will continue to own the refinery. Got $1.5 trillion laying around?
In case you did not pick up what I considered implicit in my response, I don't really care who owns the refinery. Sell it to the North Koreans for all I care.
I got ya the first time around, and I was just expanding on the point about the refinery remaining in foreign hands. Personally, I expect Aramco and the refinery to wind up in Chinese hands...
Actually, Iran and Iraq surpassed ARAMCO production and Libyan production is back to half what it was in 2011. The world is awash in oil.
The other being: "Royal Dutch Shell plc (LSE: RDSA, RDSB), commonly known as Shell, is a British–Dutch multinational oil and gas company headquartered in the Netherlands and incorporated in the United Kingdom.[2] It is one of the six oil and gas "supermajors" and the sixth-largest company in the world measured by 2016 revenues (and the largest based in Europe).[1] Shell was first in the 2013 Fortune Global 500 list of the world's largest companies;[3] in that year its revenues were equivalent to 84% of the Netherlands' $556 billion GDP.[4]" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Dutch_Shell
oil has done, thats why ksa could buy it, nothing can save oil . just look at Muscovy, Nigeria, Algeria, KSA etc
It certainly can be done. Pretty sure that even algae can be used to produce a substitute to fossil fuels at this point, and that crap needs nothing more than sunshine and nitrates to grow like mad.
look. it has happened every 100 years, the big money dont go into oil anymore , all states - gas stations look the same today , down, down, down
I have been away for some time and I currently am fortunate to have a Tech. Officer like MOTHMAN to help and allow me to route my posts through my home set up as those in the Computer World whisper the name MOTHMAN like a Harry Potter fan whispers the name VOLDEMORT. The reality is the United States has more oil, natural gas and oil reserves then every singe other nation on Earth including Russia PUT TOGETHER and the U.S. is now the worlds largest producer of OIL passing Russia....worlds largest producer of COAL and worlds largest producer of NATURAL GAS. As well the United States is the worlds largest EXPORTER of COAL, NATURAL GAS as we just passed Qatar....and by 2023 the United States will become THE WORLDS LARGEST EXPORTER OF OIL. But regardless of all this as well as the fact the United States will become COMPLETELY ENERGY SELF SUFFICIENT BY 2023.....regardless of all of this Lockheed Martin has had it;s 5th successful test of it's MICRO-FUSION REACTOR as Lockheed Martin has taken Fusio Containment issues and RESOLVED THEM!! Now currently Cold Fusion is not a reality and might not ever be however the problem with Fusion Reactors and the United States had had Fusion Breeder Reactors for MANY DECADES is that the Thermonuclear Fusion Reaction is so hard to contain it simply does not make Fusion Reactors monetarily worth it however Lockheed Martin took this problem and decided that instead of using Millions or at minimum 100,000's of Hydrogen Atoms as it's Fusion Sample back then the smallest amount of Hydrogen anyone was technically capable of isolating for use in generating Helium through a Fusion Reaction as I believe the smallest number of Hydrogen Atoms theoretically possible of being used to Fuse into Helium at least on Earth mechanically is 4.....in order to fuse into getting at least 1 Helium Atom....Lockheed Martin although the number s classified is capable of just using hundreds of Hydrogen Atoms to be used to fuse into Helium using a Laser and thus smaller numbers of Hydrogen Atoms being fused into smaller number of Helium Atoms means CONTAINMENT IS POSSIBLE in z way that is COST EFFECTIVE. Be looking to see hundreds of Lockheed Martin Micro-Fusion Generators being constructed all over the United States in the mid to late 2020's and watch as Oil, coal and natural gas demand becomes close to non-existent. Sure great I'll agree with foreign investment but is that all this is? Looks like a control move to me. This company controls 25 to 30 billion dollars of oil a year... Now the Sauds have complete control over it here in our own country. Back when OPEC meant something the Sauds were happy with playing Lord of the Flies and arrogant as all get out with their crude oil manipulations... Snap! in comes the Texas Shale boom and Saudi says OK fine. We don't need to provide your oil... We will just start buying all your Media and refineries. I'm not saying it's not smart on their behalf. It is of course. my question is how much of our core infrastructure as a country is it OK to leave to the whim of a country that throws gay people off the top of buildings and women have to ask permission to take a wee. Sauds don't invest in furniture stores they invest in things that control or influence us. Media, oil etc So I guess I am a knuckledragger Margot because I am not cool with any of it.
