Schumer says senators will decide if Trump incited ‘erection’ at US Capitol

In the upcoming "historic" Senate kangaroo court of impeaching a president who's ALREADY LEFT OFFICE, I'd love to see Trump do something equally "historic", invoke his right as an American citizen to represent himself, then step up to the podium and drop every piece of dirt and unsavory intelligence on EVERY scumbag politician, Left, Right, Center, Democrat and Republican, that he was privy to his entire life. Best part? The Democrat's Propaganda Ministry (formerly known as the "free press) would be hard put to cover up a twin "historic" event. Yeah, yeah, I know, never gonna happen, but one can still dream.....

 

So, let's address that, because I can see that you are upset.

1.) It's not a Kangaroo court
2.) there would not be a trial in the Senate now had one certain Donald J. Trump - in more than one way - incited an illegal, murderous, treacherous, treasonous insurrection that cost lives on January 6th, 2021. You cannot with all credibility claim to be for law and order and support what he did.

So, the only one who caused all of this malarkey to happen was Trump himself. If you are upset, then you should first and foremost be upset with him.

Oh, and just to be crystal clear, Trump was impeached before he left office. The trial will happen after he left office and there is historic and juristic precedence for this.

They genuinely believed his vitriol was a literal call to arms especially after the "stand back and stand by" comments.

How else do you think a group of violent thugs looking for a fight are going to read something like that coming from their dear leader? Heck they probably envisioned him leading the pack on a tank.

To think otherwise is either incredibly naïve or hair-splitting in extremis.

A decent President would have thought about the consequences of their words before saying them but he knew exactly what was likely to occur and reportedly was enthralled at watching the events unfold on TV rather than doing any practical to stop it.

Ahhh that was for the HOUSE to determine and then if so impeach him for it. The Senate doesn't judge whether the House was correct and if not make the impeachment go away, they ONLY decide should he be removed for it.

Please read the Constitution. The Senate gets to decided whether or not to CONVICT based on the House's CHARGES. The Senate is in charge of all related trials . . . yes, that means they can hold a trial in order to determine whether or not the House's charges are actually warranted. If they convict, they can assign charges that cannot go beyond removal and prevention of holding future office. Please. Read. Why. Are. You. So. Upset. At. Being. Asked. To. Do. So?

The security of the Capitol is the resposibity of the USPA Chief of the Capitol police and not an 80 year old named Nancy. USPA = - United States Vapitol Police.

And the Chief of the Capital Police works for Nancy. She is in ultimately charge. And I doubt that the Chief when told by Homeland Security and the Defense department of the threat and their offers of federal assistance sat on that withour discussing with his boss. One reason I am all for the investigation into what happened that day.

Yes to remove based on the Articles of Impeachment. Again if the Senate does not "convict" does not remove does the impeachment go away? Even in Clinton all the witnesses and testimony and evidence was IN THE HOUSE. The Dems wanted NO witnesses or testimony or the Starr Report findings discussed. They settled on excerpts of video taped testimony from just 3 witnesses limited to one hour each.

 

Your charge about Old Lady Nancy being in charge of the Capitol police
is not correct. The USCP is overseen by the Capitol Police Board. There is Congressional oversight by the appropriation and authorizing committees. Old Lady Nancy does not have any functional resposibity in running the USCP.
