This is microcosm of what's wrong with NYC and other liberal areas. This woman has a criminal record, intentionally drove into a cop which broke his leg, and she's only being charged with assault and a few other lesser charges all while being held on just $25,000 bail - and I surprised they're even making her cough up bail money of $2,500.

Our justice system is out of whack big time. The PBA president doesn't understand why this woman wasn't charged with attempted murder and I'm asking the same question. I'll bet big $$$ she eventually gets probation.

The first link below contains the full article. So you don't have to wait for the ads on the NY Post's website to see the video, the second link below takes you directly to the video of the woman hitting the cop with her car.

Because her statements indicate she didn't want to kill him.

Umm...if you watch video it's attempted murder. The car was a weapon and she meant to hit him. Look at it this way...a woman points a weapon at a cop and "pulls" the " trigger" because he wouldn't move. Attempted murder regardless of why she did it.

Any cops here? Why the **** don't yall just go on strike?

It won't take but a month. Go on strike for a month. Go on vacation with your wives and children. And when you come back they'll be on their hands and knees licking the bottom of your boots begging you to work and give you pay raises.

I think it looks better on NYC stats if they categorize as assault. Then NYC can shout out positive slanted crime numbers while the residents and cops feel less protected.

That's exactly how they've gottten their crime numbers down. They claim there's less crime when there's not. They're just prosecuting them far less and dropping charges so much that it appears the crime has decreased. Thats also why the people call them out for being stupid when they claim crimes have decreased. Because you can fake the numbers all you want, but the reality on the ground is terrible.

When someone points a car at a person and attempts to run that person over--showing disregard for life--that is attempted homicide/murder depending on the state.

example of someone who just randomly attempted homicide. Driver didn't know the person or family but did the act for whatever reason.: https://www.abc4.com/news/wasatch-f...s-from-a-vehicle-on-christmas-eve-police-say/

example of attempted murder---and the guy was just trying to get away....https://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local...mi-dade-officer-while-fleeing-police/3082046/

This example WAS attempted murder--until the judge decided the felon couldn't see the cop and didn't know he was there. Our OP example Sahara Dula most certainly saw the cop she was going to hit: https://www.timesheraldonline.com/2...-into-vallejo-officer-wasnt-attempted-murder/

Additionally, Sahara Dula was charged with ATTEMPTED first degree assault. Attempted?---if you slap someone that is assault. If you beat up an individual with the intent of causing injury that can be aggravated assault. If you point your car or gun at a person and pull the trigger or slam on the gas---because they wouldn't move---that's attempted murder.

Yes because purposefully running someone over with a car is generally good for their longevity...

It's a shame that the cop did not pull out his weapon and defend him or herself accordingly.

Intentionally ramming a car into someone carries a very real risk it could result in that person's death, or very serious permanent injury.

I know that may not be obvious to all people.

You can never know for sure exactly how it will turn out.

I agree it falls a bit short of "intentional murder", but this to me seems similar to dumping bricks off an overpass to try to hit cars on the highway.

Or maybe shooting into the wall of a house from the outside when there are people inside. Could you imagine someone claiming "Well I wasn't trying to actually kill anyone, because I was aiming at leg level" ?

Or tampering with a person's food who's highly allergic to peanuts to try to get revenge, knowing there's some risk it might put them into anaphylactic shock and cause them to die. Even though that's not the specific outcome you were aiming for.

Who gives a damn about what she said, it's what she did that counts. Running someone over with a car can easily be fatal. I'm sure that you understand this.
    She did it on purpose.

That literally doesn't matter and you don't have a point at all.

It has absolutely no bearing here

Isn't it interesting she's not being charged with a "hate crime" here?

NYC is all about "protecting" special groups. But apparently that does not include police.
