I'm an anarchist, so no - but I think that would be the constitutional approach.

as a believer in a higher being, no way should this country have an established religion. Our constitution is enough and gives us the free will to either practice a religion or quite simply not. We are not an ass backwards country that demands we follow a single belief, or persecutes others for not following that belief like Islamic countries do.

nobody in this country should be forced to recognize any religion, or told their beliefs are of lesser value.

Has nothing to do with the freedom of religion clause and why it's there.

I never made such an argument, so where is this coming from?

Has nothing to do with what I said or the intent of the freedom clause.

Which is why the clause doesn't bar the government from Christmas displays or prayers in Congress, etc., etc.

Those states weren't violating the Constitution; they gradually struck down their laws favoring one sect because the population changed and lobbied for the change themselves. Baptists and Catholics and the like didn't like paying taxes to Anglican churches or whichever sect was the state sponsored sect in a particular state. It had nothing to do with banning Christianity from government.

I voted "other." I think religion should be discouraged.

I think it would be cool if Catholic Christianity were made the official religion of the United States. I think it would also be cool if our laws were based on Catholic morality.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion. . . ." -Establishment Clause

What part of that do you not understand?
