I think what with the current welfare fiasco we have in America today, we should just open up the welfare system millionaires. Millionaires pay the most taxes, but are denied welfare - while many able-bodied people just choose not to work, but are still entitled to welfare produced by the backs of others - how fair is that?

So seeing as millionaires pay the most taxes, we should just allow them, or anyone who actually has a job for that matter, to be on food stamps - so they can at least get a little of their hard earned tax money back in their pocket.

(sorry but I like your threads)

    Free food!!! sounds great.

But we need to subsidize the farmers a lot more to do it.

Can I get the government to pay for my foie gras and caviar production scheme?

You have a good point here. The millionaires do pay the most taxes, so why shouldn't they be able to recoup a little of what they pay each year? And you're right it's not fair that there are able bodied people who 'can' work, but refuse to ...because they can't get the jobs they 'once' had. I myself spent a summer shoveling horse crap. And I was laughed at for doing it by some people (who I had at one time thought to be my friends) who proudly showed me 'their' food stamps, as they drove off in their new impala's.

Um, no. The whole point of food stamps is to help feed people that do not make enough money to feed themselves.

Now, if you can show me a cite from a reliable, neutral source that shows that 51% or more of Americans that get food stamps are scamming the system and should not be getting them, I would be happy to discuss options for scrapping the system.

Otherwise, I will continue to support them as long as they are needed.

Serious question for you, and yes, I am aware there are people that scam food stamps.

If the only job a person can get is a poor job that doesn't allow him to purchase all of the basic needs of life, but does prevent him getting food stamps, should the person still take the job? Even it it means he can't eat?

    Most definitely.

Food stamps for champagne, caviar, fillet steak and truffles.

    The rest can eat cake.

Indeed, that's the way it seemed when I was growing up in Texas. Before some lib says I'm 'racist' to complain about the food stamp fraud I saw growing up in Texas, the majority of people I saw who were on welfare were white. So don't even go there libs.

I'm an atheist. I care about the lower class. I want them to eat. I don't want them to starve. I will pay my taxes to ensure that, despite the fact that there are some scammers. I don't care what race, creed, sex, or color the said people are. I am a human and I know how it feels to be hungry. It's harder to be successful starting from point -50 than it is starting from point 0. There are a lot of people starting from point -50 because of America's past transgressions.

No, but food stamps should be eliminated.
