I am afraid your articles if actually read do not support your conclusions. Single payer systems are having problems because their costs are increasing but the costs as percentage of GDP is not even close to,that of the United States and results as objectively measured are better in single payer countries than in the US.

If you divide results in the US between those with adequate insurance and those without, those with insurance have the best health care in the world although costs are proration aptly high.

Health care costs in the US are out of control and a better overall discussion would be about what possible solutions to high costs are. Costs are an issue both to individuals and corporations where the costs to corporations of health care put US corporations at a significant disadvantage to foreign companies.

in canada single payer is significantly less expensive than the US system and delivers better ultimate results...

the common single payer problem is government underfunding and demographics...

Under the ACA the health insurance companies just got the biggest boost to add to their insured population so a single payer system is not going to happen here for a long time. This is what happens when insurance companies can pay lobbyist and pad politician's pockets with funds to get what they want. If the public want a single payor system we will all have to pay lobbyist a lot of money to get this accomplished.

Our government currently pays on average $3,500 per member annually for healthcare for our Medicaid population. Why we have to pay more for our coverage is the big question.

with our UHC the lobbyists problem don't exist to the extent it does in the US...

a quick internet search on our cost per person back in 2007 was about the same...we can get extra insurance for luxury items(TV, Private room) but the basic care cost is the same across the country for rich and poor alike...
