How about a place to track site performance? No need to start a new thead everytime there's a problem... seems to be an ongoing topic. Please post here if you experience problems accessing the site. Site was just down for about 30 minutes. Started w/slow searching, then spent 10 min trying to load and finally got an error message from Internet Explorer that the site is unavailable. Other sites worked fine on my computer. At least no "Datebase Error" -- maybe that prob's been fixed and this is something new?
Hmm, possibly the Admin was having a lok at things, working out the upgrade? I couldn't say - we have had no word of an upgrade thus far. Obviously the server was down, but why, I do not know.
Speaking of problems... why was the ability to search for keywords in thread titles taken away? (Advanced Search feature) Seems to have resulted in numerous duplicate threads since it's impossible to check for existing threads anymore. Any idea why that feature disappeared about the same time the Stats from the front page were removed?
I've had the same problem where there are no database errors any longer but the site just does not load anymore or takes a very long time to load pages.
This might be a stupid question, but as I have had absolutely none of these errors, is this related to certain versions of browsers? Google Chrime vs. IE (newer of older version)? It seems odd that the effects would be so haphazard in nature and work perfect on one system and the be batty on another?
Could be you're just missing the down times since they've become much less frequent and don't last long. That's kinda why I wanted to start a thread to keep track of it... hoped other posters online at the same time probs are reported would speak up and say they didn't get locked out or whatever. Might help narrow down the probs. Site's running great between slow-downs. Maybe the upgrade will give us back all the features we had to give up to get it running. Sure is taking a long time, isn't it?
Just an FYI: I had a very weird prob a couple of days ago, after I posted on a thread following 'Page 33" and my post was suppose to be on the next Page 34," I wasnt allowed to look at the new Page 34. That went on for several hours, altho I could see my posting and others on Page 34 by going to the "Reply" button, and they rolled up underneath my new/blank post I was going to post on. I tried PF log off/on, even chkd for viruses/malware (none), and reported to the Mods thinking that all posters had the same prob as me--they didnt! They kept answering my post which I couldnt see, like all was Norm! After a day later with same prob (only 1 thread and Page 34), I figured it must be a cookie prob, and so went from my usual browser of Firefox to IE8 )..All was good! And so I went back to FF and deleted the PF cookie, and restarted---still had prob on that browser. Guessed it must have been a FF-to-PF cookie history prob (?). Wasnt a biggie, so disregarded when I could look at Page 35, the page after Page 34 w/o any prob. Now 2day, about 3 days later, checked Page 34 same thread and all is well! Just an FYI to say there apparently was a diff betweeen browsers (FF & IE) when running PF...
It was down for site maintenance whatever that means. What exactly do they do when it says down for maintenance?
Probably re-booted in this case. It was slow as molasses this morning but seems to have improved. Looks like the rep list had nothing to do with performance after all, eh 'zel?
Got the s-l-o-w loading going on here again this morning... anybody else? (I ask because I'm also having probs with another site on this computer) *grrrrrrr*
Speaking of witchdoctors... what's with the site running slow again? The last 2 days have been on-again, off-again. Can we hire somebody to drive out evil spirits??
Is anyone else having serious problems with the site crashing this morning just about every other time they submit a post or reload the homepage, or is it just me?
I got hit with a freeze-up this afternoon... but it went away, too. Not before it posted 3 copies of the post I was trying to make, though. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
