BrahMos Missile – Six Global Customers Are Vying For Indo-Russian Supersonic Missiles; Philippines Likely To Be The First
    https://eurasiantimes.com/brahmos-missile-indo-russian-supersonic-missiles-philippines/

Since Russia introduced the "Sunburn" .. worlds first super sonic anti ship missile in the mid 90's- the ability of US Carriers to project power in regions defended by such missiles has been questioned.

India hopped on board shortly after .. followed by China .. and for 20 years the consortia has been improving this technology .. now for sale to anyone who has the cash.

Perhaps it is time to Retire the vast majority of our Carrier Fleet - now sitting ducks in the face of modern missile technology

    What say you ?

Such analysis is beyond my pay grade, but you're probably right.

The short and curly of it is that we had no defense against the Sunburn back in the Mid 90's .. this is super sonic sea skimming cruise missile .. when breaks the horizon ship has around 50 seconds to react .. our defense the Phalanx .. not going to cut it. - the enemy not firing just one missile ..

The economics is simple - (and russia was broke after the wall fell.. focusing on niche technologies rather than try to match the US plane for plane .. ship for ship) you can build a whole lot of anti ship missiles .. at 1 million a pop - for the price of a 15 Billion dollar aircraft carrier + group + op Costs.

Others liked the plan - India joined with Russia round the late 90's .. China after that. The Oniks entered service in 2002 .. a vastly improved product .. much quicker - reducing the reaction time to around 30 seconds .. stealthy - and smart - taking evasive maneuvers prior to impact.

The problem for the Battle group is that even if they are able to hit a few .. they run out of ammo in a saturation attack. That was 18 years ago .. technology improving much faster than ability to defend... and while we still are not able to defend against a saturation attack from Super sonic cruise missiles .. we now have "Hyper sonic" cruise missiles . all 3 nations in the Consortia introducing this technology ..in order of entrance into the club .. and this stuff is crazy .. the plasma bulb created by going at these obscene speeds creating stealth ..

but wait .. we also have to worry about these missile/drone fusion monsters .. that the patriot system was unable to see coming .. nor do anything about .. nor was it able to do anything about the Cruise missiles .. and this is Iran .. I repeat "Iran" . imagine what the goblin consortia is cooking up . well and already has cooked up.

but now -- never mind Russia - India -China .. Nuclear nations who we are not likely to fight anytime soon - This technology is filtering into the hands of anyone with cash.. wonder what India is charging for these puppies ?
