Comfort food for supper. Braised short ribs, carrots, mashed taters, gravy, cucumber & onion salad... custard pie for dessert. Yummy. Wish y'all were here. :knifefork:

I don't mind me that kinda food. But I developed me some over the years.
After college I became accustomed to being the cook in
my Bachelor Family.I really dug short ribs. But I think I over did it.
I marinated them in store bought marinade spice mix.
They really tasted great with a nice thick sauce.
But that was when I was a novice at cooking. This was like
in the mid-70's. I have continually improved upon my cooking.
But them Short Ribs were shore nice.
But then again so were some of the Galsy back then.
However ... That was Then ... This is Now.
Tonight I had a nice thick Lamb Chop and Yukon Gold small
    Potato w/Caesar dressing.
For the first course was some Leftover Derby City Chicken salad
with a smear of Grey Poupon.Plus a slice of toasted rye bread with
nice { store bought } Vita Classic Atlantic Nova Salmon.
That stuff is tops.Cannot be topped.Trust me.
    Wal*Mart carries the double pack { 2 - 4 oz. } in a thick
black cardboard container. It costs around $ 11.But it lasts.
I'd say one 4 oz. vacuum pack could last a week if used just
    once a day.Plus the health benefit is very good 1.3g % Omega-3
Fatty acids per serving.Of course I also like Creamed Herring and
Crab Salad { imitation crab meat }.As an Appetizer. With a nice
    Vodka drink.
Plus only Red Wine with the main course. No Beer.Never any Beer.
I had to give it up because it's Inferior.
Kinda like Polishing ones shoes.Which I do only occasionally
    for my better shoes.

Which now brings me to the question as to how one
can age gracefully or live longer. There are many factors.
    Possibly TOO many.
But I will use my Mother and my Grandmother as test subject.
By Mom died in 2017 at age 94.
My Grandmother died in the 1980's at the age or 83.
Both my Mom and my Grandmother lived similar lifestyles
as far as food.My Grandmother never smoked.By Mom did
only socially in the 50's and 60's.
My Mom drank only socially and with meals. My Grandmother
only on special occasions and not with meals.
Neither one were drinkers per se.
Both my Grandmother and Mom believed and held to the
practice of seeing their dentist twice a year.Every 6 months.
Both my Mother and Grandmother never exercised.
However both my Mom and Grandmother religiously
    ate pastries.THAT was their calling.
So Sugar probably was the main factor, since my Grandmother
was more addicted and interested in Pastries than my Mom.
Anybody who ever studied nutrition knows Sugar is the Enemy
of the Human body. However Alcohol acts like sugar.
I maintain my Grandmother died prematurely due to Loneliness
as she was forced to sell the Family run business she Ran as
Matriarch for decades. She went to work 6 days a week as the
boss lady for near 50 years. So her death may have been due to
psychological ramifications. She no longer felt needed or important.
Which is why many spouse married to the same person their
entire life, end up perishing rather quickly when their spouse dies.
No one gets out of life alive. But they can try.or can they.?

Took some goats off today. Have to....if you get too many they die off on ya. When I got back found a brand new baby. Looks like I thinned them out just in time. I always try to sell the weak ones. The ones left are the fittest ....as far as I know.

The scene looks familiar, but Tarantino diminishes the impact.

Had beef stew for supper. Used my home grown carrots. I planted a packet of mixed color carrots last fall. I watered them for a while and they didn't come up so I forgot about them. Walking in the empty garden ....carrots!! They were pretty tasty especially the yellow ones. The broth was delish. Also planted 3 bunches of onions this morning. Watered in and mulched. Still ain't finished the north side of the house. I am working by myself and I had redo some of the soffit to make it look right. But one of these days I will climb down from that scaffold for the last time......then build a higher scaffold on the east side. .....on ....and on.....
