Well democrats, was the impeachment inquiry worth it?

Crazy Nancy didn't think so at first, but her even crazier base forced her to do it, she knew this would be the end result.

What Trump's impeachment ended up causing.

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...street-journal-poll-trump-support/4639611002/

    1) Polls now show, a majority of Americans do not support removal from office even if Trump did the acts accused. (Dershowitz's argument was successful).

    2) A majority of Americans now do not support additional witnesses (Congress voted with the people).

    3) Trump's poll numbers are the highest in three years, and as if moves towards an acquittal of charges, those numbers are likely to rise to their best ever.

Republicans are now solidly united behind Trump. Trump 2020 coming in full steam ahead. Choo Choo!

Was Democrats, was it worth it?

Well, first of all you are citing bs facts

But beyond that, I'm not a Democrat but even I understood their essential argument. I will explain it to you since apparently you couldn't understand.

It was their sworn duty to protect the Constitution. To fail to do this when trump was clearly abusing power in the sense most feared by the framers, would be a violation of their oath. The precedent that this sort of abuse is acceptable could not be be allowed, no matter the political cost. Greater principles were in play.

That the republicans are spineless was known all along. The Dems chose to do the right thing, and not the easy thing or the best politically.

As though they give a damn about the Constitution? If anything, most of the left would see it gone.

All that matters not. It is over and time to manufacture a new "crisis".

Impeaching Trump was idiotic. But a good political consultant could turn this event into an effective 30 second ad for the Dems in the fall.

How many times does it have to be said? It's not the senates job to call witnesses.

It is if they want it to be. That is a bs excuse. There are no set rules.

Show me a law stating that.

No doubt about it....Trump will create another crisis in the coming months, or weeks, days, or even minutes. Trump is consistent in that regards.

Trump will forever be impeached. It was worth it. The history books will always start with that.

    Yes.

Just because Republicans have castrated themselves for Trump, does not mean the story is over. Trump is a walking train wreck, and the spineless GOP will pay the price for this.

Pay what price? This impeachment trial all but guaranteed Trump's reelection, Trump is also going to get a bipartisan acquittal, watch the moderate democrats vote with the GOP.

That's a lot of wishful thinking you've got going on there, you're counting your chickens before they hatch. All it takes is one tweet from the Orange Turd to start another round.

However, if you think the majority of voters are going to sit still and have not just our government turned upside down, but everything else, then it will be you who will be surprised. There is only so much lying and hate that can go around before it bites you in the ass, and since the GOP has basically enabled Trump, they too will suffer the consequences.

Isn't Trump great? He creates crisis after crisis and the dems can do nothing to capitalize on any of them.
Sorry for your tragic landslide election loss in 2016.

Sure, it was the right thing to do. The Republican Party hasn’t been able to distinguish right from wrong for quite along time but their most ethically challenged turn was the Tea Party/Freedom Caucus not Donald Trump. Trump has merely quarterbacked the zealotry more effectively.

Going forward we should get verdicts on the litany of law suits pending plus the ever present FOIA revelations albeit heavily redacted.

Although I find it interesting that Trump supporters have forgotten an inside straight was needed in ‘16 to win. Yeah. 63M is less than 66M (of a divided opposition) and your candidate doesn’t age like a fine wine.

If Democrats recognize it’s a turnout election they’ll be fine. Their powers of recognition are dicey and that fact always must be noted. If their largest donors—power base—can find a rug to pull they’ll pull it.

You're right, there is no such law that demands the Senate call witnesses. It was the House Democrats obligation to present a compelling argument for removal from office, they failed to have the necessary evidence, so they thought they could fish for more.

The liberals here keep flaunting that 75% WaPo/Quinnepiac poll that found that most voters wanted witness testimony. They conveniently left out the fact that Republicans in the poll who wanted witnesses wanted the Bidens, the Whistleblower, and Adam Schiff while Democrats wanted Bolton, Mulvaney, etc. So, yes, a majority wanted witnesses....just not the same witnesses.

Witnesses did testify in the House. 17 Democrat selected witnesses that couldn't prove anything with no cross examination by Republicans.

And an 18th one, ICIG Michael Atkinson who's testimony blows Schiff's entire sham impeachment apart. But he won't release it. What are you hiding Schiff?

The polling question makes a big difference doesn't it?

"Should witnesses be allowed to testify?" (75% "Yes")

    versus

"Do you need more information to make a decision?" (Only 37% "Yes")

Was impeachment worth it? Democrats wanted a participation trophy for "impeached forever". They got it. The entire country knew from the start that Trump would be acquitted in the end, so Republicans get the 1st-Place "acquitted forever" trophy. I'd say it was largely a big waste of time and money, but a small net positive benefit for Trump.

It's a cover up. The Senate Judiciary Committee will start relevant inquiries soon.
