Seattle Preacher Arrested During Pride Event Says ‘Crime’ Was Reading Bible In Park | The Daily Wire

A Seattle street preacher says he was arrested for simply reading his Bible at a public park near a Seattle Gay Pride event.

Matthew Meinecke was surrounded by Seattle police officers and taken to the police station, where he was fingerprinted before being released.

“So at this point [sic] we can no longer stand by,” a police officer told Meinecke as he arrested him. “The risk that you pose for public safety by remaining here can be mitigated if you leave, it’s your last chance.”

“I don’t want to leave because I’m not in danger,” Meinecke responded.

This might be an elaborate plan by the left to get the right to sue police departments, thereby defunding the police.

Based on the article he actually was in danger, since his trolling had already invoked some very angry responses from the parades. He is not being honest when he says he was arrested simply for reading the Bible, and it sounds like he was not even arrested, but told to leave the area.

 

I go to a monthly antique car event most every month at a neighboring town. Quite often there is a very annoying “preacher” mouthing off fundamentalist doctrine on a bullhorn. I can ignore him, but I could see where a gay person or an atheist would become aggressive. I guess that’s the difference between a person who is a political activist and a person who can let it pass. I don’t like it, but I can tune it out.

 

The thing is that you shouldn't have to tune it out.

There are much more recent examples of "preachers" spewing hate. Sadly it is far too common. Especially when you consider that their messiah taught constantly against hate.
