I would say the antithesis of patriotism is globalism.

 

I believe one involves pride and the other hate. For some, probably both. Remember, a certain party has adopted double-speak as their official language.

 

For God's sake, take your pesky McDonald's and Kentucky fried chicken stores back. Globalists!

 

Look up "authoritarian". Explain how governing via executive order is not authoritarian.

 

Patriotism is America First and American Exceptionalism. Globalism is all people on earth matter, and recognizing America can learn from other nations who do particular things better.

 

There was no insurrection. There was a protest that turned into a riot...something that happened over and over throughout 2020. Some people hate Trump so much...they make things up...over and over. It's pretty weird....

 

What is the antithesis of patriotism?

 

Patriotism is love of ones country. Insurrection is opposition to ones government. If ones country has a terrible govt, then patriotism and insurrection could be the same thing.

Every terrorist has people who think they're a hero, and every freedom fighter is fighting people who think they're a terrorist.

 

Paying dollars to fund a foreign country's social programs. That angers me more than 1/6/2020. Because in the end, the governing and just lawful powers cleared the halls of the rioters/invaders/insurrectionists(however you want to phrase them). But this humiliation in funding a foreign country over ours will last forever in my mind.

 

Regret that a country was ever founded. For instance some people regret that the pilgrims touched our shores, or that Columbus put us on a map. Or that families took risks and went west. In Australia I imagine there are people who mourn and send apologies out to the nation for your country's founding.. That is the antithesis of patriotism.

 

So.....what is the antitheses of patriotism?

 

For example, the State of Israel?

 

Sure, we can add them too. My nationalism has no exception to this problem, it's just that if you mention them, you'll have to deal with the whole 'omg, are you antisemitic' bullshit. Nah, I just don't care to have US taxpayer dollars to foreign countries or for our government to be bribed and lobbied, even by allies. So as to not leave any leeway for any excuses, no one should be allowed to lobby us.

US policy for the US. Diplomatic channels is where INTL relations should take place, not Washington.

 

Tyranny, I guess. Patriotism is such a subjective word, so must be its antithesis.

If the whole world does better - doesn't that mean the US does better? Why can't it be both?

 

When your enemy does better than you do... your days are numbered.

 

If you see the whole world as your enemy, instead of as potential trading partners, then you're most likely going destroy it in a self-fulfilling prophesy anyway.

 

I think it has a lot to do with a lack of imagination and the will to change it.

 

I don't see the whole world as our enemy at all. But we can't get our own homeless out of the streets of San Francisco. We just don't have the rtesources to fix
