We'll see if soaring economic optimism outweighs Leftist hate in November. Nothing motivates "progressives" more than hate and nothing enrages them more than being deprived of the only things they care about - power and control.

Oh, I don't think the Left should really concern themselves too much, everyone knows they have it in the bag!

Soaring economic hopes certainly had no effect in PA 18.

This is the optimism driven by 1.8 growth rates or fed increases in the discount rate?

Funny, the deficit seems to have not noticed these rising receipts. We are on track for a $1 trillion plus deficit, up from $500 billion under Obama. The deficit hawks cried then, why are they silent now?

Forecast: GOP now more likely to have *at least* 54 Senate seats next year than to lose its majority

    Strut.

According to Nate Silver’s model (as of 5:15 p.m. ET). Democrats have an 18.4 percent chance of gaining two seats and winning a majority next month. Whereas Republicans have a 9.1 percent chance of gaining three, a 5.5 percent chance of gaining four, a 3.2 percent chance of gaining five, a 1.4 percent of gaining six, a 0.7 percent chance of gaining seven, and a 0.3 percent chance of shooting the lights out and gaining eight (which would leave them one seat shy of a filibuster-proof majority, for what it’s worth). Add those up and you get a 20.2 percent chance of 54 or better.

So the Republicans think losing the House is winning, while keeping the Senate. :roflol:

We can just blame everything that happens on liberal obstructionism.

Trump and the GOP in the Senate can propose all kinds of legislation, and when Democrats refuse to consider it blast them in the media for putting party before country.

Well it didn't work so well when Democrats attempted to do it, but that's because they have a hard time connecting to regular people.

Most people care about their lives, politics is secondary unless a particular item comes up. Right now there is nothing even close, so the main driving force in Nov will be the economy. The gamble and huge loss by Dems on character assassinating Kavanaugh is likely to leave more Democrats at home than motivate them...

It's not the administration that necessarily controls the deficit it is the Congress and surely it is the Republicans that by FAR care about deficits over the Democrats although they could use some more conservative Republicans in the mix right now. Certainly the last thing we need is more Democrats in Congress.

It's not by administration it is by who controls the balance of power and primarily the Congress. Which party had the higher deficits the Democrats BY FAR. The Republicans produced the surpluses in the late 1990's and then after the peak $400B deficit in the 2001 recession brought it back down to a paltry $161B heading to surplus. The Democrats took back the Congress and the deficits were a disaster hitting $1,400B just two years later and staying over $1,000B for the next 3. It was Republican sequester that brought them down again.

Perhaps this is the economic torpedo that might sink the blue wave?

Florida and Texas Post Record Sept.-to-Sept. Job Gains; Ohio Has Largest Gain in 21 Years

Florida and Texas, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, not only led the nation in the number of nonfarm jobs they added in the year running from September 2017 to September 2018 but also added the greatest number of jobs to their states in any September-to-September period on record.

Ohio and Pennsylvania—sometimes considered part of the nation’s “Rust Belt”—also saw significant job gains from September 2017 to September 2018, with Ohio showing the largest increase for its state in 21 years and Pennsylvania showing the largest increase in 18 years.

“Thirty-seven states had over-the-year increases in nonfarm payroll employment in September,” BLS said in its state employment report. “The largest job gains occurred in Florida (+407,300), Texas (+406,400), and California (+339,600). The largest percentage gain occurred in Florida (+4.8 percent), followed by Utah (+3.6 percent) and Texas (+3.3 percent).

The unemployment rate in Florida was 3.5 percent. In Texas, it was 3.8 percent. In California, it was 4.1 percent.

    Isn't florida a swing state?

Trump won Florida in 2016, and this keeps up he will win it again.
