Some Tips on usintg this New Format

Here are some tips for anyone who's not real familiar with this version of Vbulletin.

User CP
This is up top under "settings". It's not called user CP here, it's just called settings.
You'll find subscribed threads your listed reps and of course your setting options. Any infractions you have are listed there.

Posting Youtubes
You just click "reply to thread" When the window comes up, there's an icon, second from the right that looks like a ladder or 2 frames of film. That's your icon for videos. Insert the url and click ok.
OR you can bracket the word VIDEO.

Your credits
Go to your profile page and click "experience". They're all there with lists of what you have and what different things are worth.

Giving reps
At the bottom of each post there's a 6 pointed star. Click that and a window pops up to give rep. Write a comment if you want, but sigh your name so the recipient knows who was kind enough to send you rep.
I don't yet know how many you can give before getting cut off for a while.

Groups
Member groups are can be found on your profile page on the left midway down. There's a link that says "Join Groups". You can find them through.
Any group you belong to - you can still find it listed on your profile page, on the left.
Group messages are a little different now. They start with the first message ever posted, so to get to the current messages, you have to click over to the last page.

Who's online
As far as I can tell, it hasn't been enabled yet.

There's some good info in the OP. In addition to this particular bit, I believe that social group messages are now 'threaded' (i.e. each group is like a litle sub forum all of its own!), but with the old messages all obviously having been placed on one long thread. You should be able to start a new thread with the 'Post New Discussion' button, so there's no need to keep going to the end of that original long thread to post/read new messages. This is obviously a significant improvement over the old system.

 

Sometimes I miss the old good rep board.

 

I've seen this type of layout forum before years ago in another forum, surprised it took this long to adapt it. I still like the look of the old PF better, it was more distinct and darker blue.

 

We need a line between content and signature. Sometimes hard to tell the difference.

None of my posts are showing up. You find your new posts under your profile picture, right? And what does track messages mean under settings?

 

I can't see it, just a big white space but no line.

 

I can see that you have a line now, but you definitely didn't before when you suggested it.

 

I still see no line. All I see is about a tripple space of white but no colored line to separate the two areas.

 

Its a faint greyish line. Hard to see, but it is there.

I noticed the same thing. But the site is having loading problems right now, so I can't look into the other thing. I'll keep trying. I seem to recall from this format that "track messages" is a separate thing that lists them?

I know, me too. When I look at "latest posts", the newest stuff is from last month. That list was how I kept track of my conversations, and now I either can't find them, or forget which threads I am posting to. That needs to get fixed, pronto. It's ruining the whole experience.

 

Your posts are not showing up because they were made at the other forum. Everything you said on the other forum will not be seen on this forum.

Need to set the Reply button to send to Go Advanced reply page instead of Quick Reply...

... and search to allow for a 3 character search, to deal with most gov't. acronyms.

 

That's not true...even the ones I post here, do not show up. I have no way of tracking my last posts either.

 

I have this problem still, even though I have been posting here....is it just us? Why isn't anyone else complaining about this?

 

I spoke to to the fifth...I didn't read all posts. Now, I know you can't do it either. What the heck?

I see list of your post. I clicked on your avatar then I click list all posts. It was easy.

 

My last post is dated 4/2/12. Obviously not my latest post.
