At another place (which will, of necessity, remain nameless,) there is a topic concerned with Turkey's plan to send three frigates into the Mediterranean, in order to escort and protect vessals carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza. I contributed this to the discussion: I received an infraction for making mention of the Mavi Marmara as an implicit criticism of Israeli forces. I'm not whinging about it, (I accepted the infraction with good grace and an apology at the other place,) and I have not embellished anything - that is exactly what I wrote - but can any of you understand what I did to deserve an infraction?
Leo2 , , , speaking off the cuff here , I have been to a few other forums / opinion polls , and it seems that there is always a loose cannon Mod with an axe to grind or a grudge of some sort ... and anyone , even a Mod , can have a bad day , so what ya gonna do ? we are fortunate here on PF that the Mods are not newbies , they've been around and I'll have to say to their credit that they get it right , most of the time..
First off, I have to agree with you that the mods here are outstanding, which is one of the reasons why this place is my 'home' on the net. But to be fair to the other place, the mods were very nice about it. Somebody complained, and said he was going to dob me in to the mods for 'flamebaiting', so I guess they had little choice. It is somewhere I seldom post, so I am not sure if there is some obscure rule about criticising Israel or not - of which I may have been in breach. I'm not whinging about being badly treated. What I am curious about, is what might be taken as offensive in that post (I try to avoid giving unnecessary offence,) and I thought I would ask friends here about it. I tried to be factual, and gave very little in the way of personal opinion, so I am puzzled by the charge of flamebaiting. I am not just looking for agreement, and if anyone thinks what I wrote was inflammatory; it would be useful to learn.
Leo2 , I think that you just ran afoul of a lazy Mod that wanted peace and quiet as opposed to letting the thread stay spontaneous , which is a hallmark of any honest discussion ... however , and in smaller case , I do remember making a post about my Religious beliefs on an atheist thread ,,, but I didn't know at the time it was an atheist thread , so my comments was like a watermellon dropped in a bathtub ,,, which is to say it made a lot of waves ( if U take my meaning ) , and I was similiarly infracted for a flamebaiting post ,,, so maybe you have encountered a similar circumstance on the other site.
