Teaching kids about safe sex pratices- which would include discussing the dangers of anal sex- as the CDC recommends would accomplish that.

Lets discuss three different approaches- and assume that each works 100%

a) Teach kids 'not to put it in the butt'- assuming it is 100% effective means that HIV transmission would be reduced by about 60%- people would still be getting HIV from vaginal sex.

b) Teach kids to be exclusively monogamous- assuming it is 100% effective would mean that HIV transmission would be reduced by 100%.

c) Teach kids to always use condoms- assuming that such teaching is 100% effective would mean that HIV transmission would be reduced by close to 100%.

This is why your message is so harmful. A comprehensive sex education would teach kids how to be safe- so they would know the real dangers and how to protect themselves. Monogamy and condoms would provide more protection from HIV to more kids than just telling them not to put anything in their butt.

A comprensive approach will save more lives- simple as that.

We've been over this already. Teens do use condoms. Not as often as they should, not as regularly as they should, but they do. And accurate and expansive sex education ensures that they are more likely to use condoms. Meanwhile, all of the data points to abstinence-only education having a damn near zero effect. Basically, what you are asserting (Teens won't use protection regardless, we should just teach them never to do it in the first place) is exactly the opposite of what has been proven to work! When are you going to get this? Are you ever going to acknowledge this criticism?

Teens can be taught about sex and condoms and avoiding putting anything in the anus all at the same time. I'm not sure why you think they cannot? Are you saying that trying to reproduce with the lower GI tract is the only form of sex there is? And you say I am not up on things. Kids simply learn in sex ed that anal sex is 10 times deadlier than other types of sex. Are you saying we should hide that information from them?

 

Oh no, I'm completely on-board with this. Teach them to use proper protection, and teach them to avoid anal sex unless they know both them and their partner is STD-free. By all means, teach them this:

Yet in spite of these horrendous numbers in boys and very young men getting HIV/AIDS increasing, we see nothing on TV to reach them. Nada. Zip. And no, telling them to go to some website or local health clinic for "more information" in their spare time is like asking them to study algebra in their spare time. Aint' gonna happen. They need to see the messages on commercials between clips of the shows they enjoy watching if their lives are actually going to be spared..

Whatever number of people die of HIV each year is tiny compared to other causes of death. Why would the CDC spend a disporportionate amount of money on HIV advertisements when there are tons of other diseases that are preventable that affect a broader section of society.

Any questions? The rate of increase is probably higher by now. There have been more reports of late of numbers going up and not down for new HIV infections in boys and very young men.

The CDC has full information on the internet about safe sex- for young men, for young people, for everyone. The only TV adds the CDC is doing is to prevent smoking- which kills far more people than HIV.

I encourage you to advocate for more funding for the CDC to buy air time for safe sex ads. Or donate directly to the CDC. I can't afford to myself right now but I encourage you to so.

You don't understand. Silly thinks that the same increase among heterosexuals in the same age group is because gays are having anal sex.

 

Demonstrating that sodomy is "OK" to kids, by allowing it to marry [gay men] or by parading it down main street in broad daylight or any other vehicle where adults model sodomy as "OK" in the presence of kids is setting a new trend they will follow. So doing, it is not alarming that there is this sudden increase just since so-called "gay marriage" has been forced upon a few states. The timeline of the media blitz and the gay push to marry is identical.
