So according to you, gay men knowing their demographic has an insanely large propensity to carry HIV, wanting to donate blood anyway into the emergency bank, are fully within their rights to want to do so?

You think there is nothing wrong with them wanting to do that Jeff? Anyone opposed then is a "homophobe"?

Gay men are fully withing their rights to want to do. You are fully within your rights to post homophobic nonsense.

As I have posted several times, I am in favor of the blood banks current policy. I am a frequent blood donor and I am very aware of what blood banks ask donors- these are sensible precautions.

When I refer to your homophobic fantasy I am refering to this bizarre and homophobic claim:

"AND GAY MEN WANTING THE BAN LIFTED SO THEY CAN INFECT IT."

I will just come out and say it- this is a flat out lie.

You want to prove me wrong- find where any gay man has said that they want to contribute blood in order to infect the blood supply.

Like I said- just a homophobic fantasy.

I happen to think that the homosexual groups who are advocating this are wrong- and the blood banks are right.

It is people who say that gays want to infect the blood supply that I call homophobic.

I think there's a lot of "sensible" questions that only get asked when it involves gay people.

personally, I think "are you monogamous" and "when were you last tested" is the best question in this particular case, yeilding a more accurate account of risk. But regardless, I dont consider this to be a serious issue that limits the rights of homosexuals, so it's not worth throwing a fuss over. Any reasonable measure is fine.

No, you started this thread to fear monger and talk about conspiracy theories on the Gaygenda. It's already been proven that HIV is not a gay only disease. But it's not enough that you just say you're afraid of what will happen if you allow gays to give blood. You go further, and without facts to back you up, state that gays are actually actively trying to infect you.

You've been diagnosed with Type II Homophobia with possible Type I. Cure:

White gay men are less likely to be infected vs a heterosexual black woman.
    - explain why they are allowed to donate.

I will wait while you dodge the question

Your first lie is to exaggerate how many gay men have HIV.

Its a minority, yet your sycophants and you try to say its something like 98%.

Secondly, there are lots of men who would identify themselves as "straight" bending over in men's bathrooms, so far more "straights" are at risk than you claim.

But since all blood is tested for HIV, this ban based on bigoted hysteria makes no sense at all.

Oh, now you're talking apples and oranges. Of course gay men are a minority. Yet within that minority they have an astounding prevalance to carry and pass on HIV in their blood and infected semen. That is why the demographic is profiled and kept from donating. Because it is logical, scientific and makes sense.

Gay men wanting to donate blood, knowing their propensity for carrying HIV, is as alarming as the civil rights icon they chose. [see my signature] Both are indications of intent to do harm to the general population. And that is a red flag about gay culture in general. In fact, if you return to the OP and read one of the CNN commentors you will see one of the pro-gay ones snickering about how gay men donating blood is a little lie that happens every day. So what that poster was saying was "we gay men, knowing there's an excellent chance we might be carrying HIV, go in and LIE to the blood bank people and give blood anyway" *snicker snicker"...

And THAT is alarming. It's also attempted homicide or even mass murder. It is akin to going to a crowded theater and opening fire on the audience just to see who you can randomly kill...

He didn't say gay men are a minority. He said infected gay men are a minority within the gay male population. Now... please continue.

And this is why I call your posts homophobic.

You regularly and continually post anti-homosexual rants, all intended to stigmatize homosexuals.

There is a real issue about blood donation- as I have said- as a blood donor I am aware of the restrictions and think they are reasonable.

But you interpret everything as 'homosexual bad' and that is what I object to, and confront.

Let's look at the CDC info on that shall we?

A demographic that accounts for 75% of all male infected HIV carriers [gay men], is a demographic to screen out of the general blood supply. Common sense trumps political correctness. Bottom line.

yet they are still allowed to donate while someone with a lower chance of actually being infected is automatically banned.

We test the blood, there really isn't much of an issue here. The Red Cross screens for HIV and hep a/b/c among other things. If the problem is disease, simply fix the rules so as you can't donate between the risky behavior and the average time it would take to detect any such disease in the person's blood. It's not complicated.

The issue here is that gay men as a demographic not only carry the highest rate of HIV per capita of their group, but also are extremely promiscuous. There are two problems with this. 1. They can contract HIV, test every day and still not show positive for up to 6 months. 2. The odds are, given their rampant sexual activity [hypersexuality], they have already contracted it; and allowing a "clean" gay man to donate blood is effectively the same as allowing a dirty one to.

Again, african american women are far more likely to be infected than a gay white man yet they are still allowed to donate; while someone with a lower chance of actually being infected is automatically banned.

Are you saying we should discriminate on a whole group because of a minority of their population? If that is the case we just just ban all men from donating as they make up ~75% if the aids population.

Or is your extreme hatred of gays removing your critical thought processes? You do know all the blood is tested, yes?

This is a non issue as Blood Donations are thoroughly screened and there has not been a case of donated blood infecting anyone with HIV in the U.S. in a long time.

Within the next three years a Genetically Engineered Universal Blood Type will be available in massive quantities as well a Synthetic Blood that is also Universal will be out this year.

Currently there are two Genetic Engineering specific companies that have released data showing they have begun trial testing of a Genetic Cure for HIV and AIDS. It has worked curing many test cases but at the moment must be tailor engineered for each specific person making it very costly.

The goal is to develop a Universal Cure that uses a Retro Virus to deliver a Genetic Encoding to alter cells that cannot be infected by the Virus. This has been developed over the course of 10 years and is also considered a possible cure all to a host of diseases Cancer being one of them.

Now it is possible for Genetic Engineers to use ordinary cells to create lines of Stem Cells thus avoiding the ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AT ONE TIME BAN on Stem Cell Research.

You know what? I agree with Silhouette. Men who have sex with men should not be allowed to donate, or should at least be required to wait a year between having sex and giving blood. It makes sense - as long as we're not suffering from blood shortages, then I can agree that we really can afford to be choosy if this is likely to reduce the prevalence of infected blood...

...Wait, what? The topic has changed from "We shouldn't allow gay men to donate blood because they have a higher prevalence of HIV"? What has it changed to?

    ...Oh.

    Wow.

    Jesus christ. You're completely insane.

No, only a crazy person would see gay men wanting to donate blood as pure and untained well-wishing. A sane person, who knows that gay men know of their own population's terrible issues with HIV transmission and the incubation period where testing isn't accurate, wanting to donate blood has nefarious issues behind it. If I was a member of a population known for carrying a deadly virus I would shudder at the mere mention of anyone suggesting I donate blood into a common pool. Let alone going out and campaigning for "my right" to donate blood!

I would lay awake nights in a cold sweat wondering how many little kids or working moms or dads needed a transfusion and got my tainted blood. Not gay men though. They seem to be all about not caring at all.

And that's where I see a BIG, RED FLAG...And anyone else with a shred of sanity would see it too. We all of us have not drunk the rainbow koolaide...

the rules here are that we can't use derogatory terms when discussing blacks, Irish, Jewish, Polish, Germans, Homosexuals etc etc

But, in this subsection, it is quite acceptable to use the Lords name in vane as well as that of his son as well as to call other posters "insane"

More hypocrisy from our moderating staff

What? She suffers from clinical homophobia - an extreme and irrational fear of gay people infecting her with AIDS.

Even you have to admit Sil's posts are... extreme...

She actually believes that gay men want to infect the world population through donated blood.

And still hasn't answered why she agrees with heterosexual african american women being able to donate even though they are more likely to be infected than homosexual white men.

So you're either saying by that statement, denying gay men want to infect the blood supply with HIV tainted blood that:

    1. Gay men are stupid, far too stupid to draw correlations between their own demographic they know, and have themselves told the world about for decades is disproportionately rampant with HIV/AIDS [remember the little ribbons they handed out for years? I do...] OR

    2. They are so intelligent, that they know better than our leading satisticians, scientists and the CDC about "how little risk" there is in a gay man infecting the general blood supply with HIV.

I know of a 3rd option....one that until this news story broke and I read one of the gay guys comments on the CNN link in the OP, I thought was a conspiracy theory.

    3. Gay men want the rest of the general population to suffer as they do, so that a cure will more quickly be found.

So, which one of the three applies to gay men wanting to donate blood? If african americans also carry a high percentage of HIV, the solution to improving the quality of the blood supply isn't to allow gay men to donate as a remedy...

Except that you're the only one talking about how high-risk it is for gays to give blood. The fact is that with current screening methods and the numerous opportunities for testing that there is no elevated risk for infected blood to get into the supply. Oh, there's a mildly elevated risk for it to be drawn, but virtually no risk increase to the overall blood supply. Meanwhile, I can easily think of a few more reasons:

    3. Removing yet another anti-gay stigma that would treat us as second-class citizens
    4. The fact that most of those who actually care enough to give blood (believe it or not, there's an awful lot of people who don't) generally care enough to get themselves tested.
    5. The fact that we have fairly common blood donation shortages.

...No need to reach, quite literally, to "most gays want to kill people". Again, get yourself some help. You have a mental disorder.

Well certainly I don't think you should donate your tainted blood.
