Sweden could block Russia's NordStream pipeline

Russia plans to build a new gas pipeline through the baltic, close to Gotland, in order to bypass Ukraine. The USA opposes this as it sees it as a way for Russia to put more pressure on Ukraine, which is currently a transit country for much of the russian gas exports to Europe. I'm sorry to link to sputnikNews, but I couldn't find another good english-language link. The article talks about "american pressure" and that sweden "might be forced", but having read the original article in Swedish, which says nothing of the sort, this is just yet more russian propaganda. Sweden is plenty anti-russian by itself, thank you very much, we certainly don't need any convincing to help our yellow-blue brothers in Ukraine, and to oppose Russia.

It seems likely we will stop NordStream, and I hope we do. screw Russia.

edit: also, the swedish supreme commander, Micael Bydén, has opposed the project, because of fears that Swedish harbors on Gotland would be used be Russians, which would be a security threat.

 

This is honestly a stupid position: "Develop your own energy sources, that way you won't be dependent on the Russians!" Noble and all, until you realize that the very reason they'd agree to the pipeline is because they can't develop their own energy sources. It's cutting their nose to spite their face.

 

we don't need their energy.. it's the germans, who foolishly decided to get rid of nuclear, making themselves dependent on coal and russians. But germans can get their gas.. provided it goes through ukraine..

 

As far as I know, the Nord Stream pipeline is already built. Maybe all these jokes about Balts' slowness are true?

Since when did you start supporting criminals? The gas will never go through Ukraine until they start paying their bills and stop tapping into the pipelines going into Germany.

Anyway Russia doesn't have a monopoly, there are other sources of gas... they'll just have to pay more. That's how a free market works.

 

We've supported ukraine since the start of their problems with Russia I think. Sweden has given Ukraine a cheap loan. I don't keep track of all the things we do for them.. We've probably done more things.

 

I don't think the Germans will take stopping Nordstream 2 lightly. Frankly I wouldn't mess around with them:

they can still get their gas through ukraine... Nord stream 2 would only change one thing: To allow Russia to pressure ukraine. And no thank you, we don't want that.

 

The criminals in charge of Ukraine are in a lot of trouble... now that they don't have their partners in Washington. Yulia Tymoshenko called for a third maidan, and so the criminals are now thinking of martial law.

When she went to the area of Ukraine that supported the Maidan, the people were so distraught at the situation that they even wanted Yanukovich back.

 

ukraine is in quite a pickle, we can agree on that. But they will atleast have the support of many european countries, among them Sweden.

 

The Russians will pressure the criminals in Kiev to pay their bills. Why should they get a free ride ...I mean they certainly don't deserve it after their genocide and ethnic cleansing of anyone who doesn't speak their own Galatian version of Ukrainian.

Besides if they can afford to pay the Right Sector and Polish mercenaries to shoot civilians in Donbas, they can afford to pay for the gas. As for the Ukrainian people who really deserve better, they should have joined the Donbas resistance and fought the junta when they had the chance.

Anyway let's see what happens now that Trump will be president and the criminals like Vice President Biden that had connections with the Ukrainian mafia is out of office.

 

I would like to see it built and then have someone blow it up, on Russian territory, every 6 months.

 

Swedes are strange people. I would understand if they wanted money, but they want to hurt Russia at any cost. Do You want to be an enemy of Russia?! Okay, but then don't whine when Russia will strike back.

If I were oversuspicious I'd assume he's a Pole, as there is a lot of Poles in Sweden.

Every nation has a group of political activists who are overhelmingly exited over international issues meanwhile the most of people keep healthy indifference. I thought he's a Pole because it's not common for Swedes to call Ukrainians "brothers".

 

I do hope so, because it will not screw Russia. This will be an incentive for the development of the Russian economy.
