Forcing poor people to pay taxes or accept crappy healthplans they can't afford and don't want... Because it's good for them... I don't guess you even think that's arrogant, do you.
That's how it was before Obamacare, actually. 'Cept they were forced then by the threat of bankruptcy.
Which good economic growth. Seen the GDP projections for next year. Paying much attention to the stack market? What about a two quarter short term bump coupled with a massive deficit increase do you not understand?
Freedom by definition includes the freedom to fail. If they're was a way for everyone to be rich and everyone have all the things rich people have I would be for it. But that isn't possible. The Free Market gives significantly more people the opportunity to be rich than any other economic system. Liberty isn't perfect. It's just the closest to perfect.
You've discovered the deficit. How quaint. It's unfortunate that Democrats are determined to bring down the economy as a 2020 political strategy. We'll see if they succeed. Well
Now if only the Republicans who ranted about the deficit all through the Obama years could rediscover their concern. And if you look at current projections for the economy it would appear the Republicans who control the Presidency and the Congress has already done the deed. And bern watching the Trump stock market recently. Notice how Trump no longer brags about it? But you are giving us an interesting preview of the Republican plan to blame the Trump economic collapse on the fact that now the Dems are going to control the House. Guess the claim will be that the Dems have stopped the Republican reforms that of course Trump never proposed while he ran the entire government.
The result of GOP Congress and POTUS is the biggest growth in a decade, and lowest unemployment in a generation. What Pelosi fails to put forward a balanced budget, who are you going to blame?
That surely was not to boost the economy but to prevent is going into reverse as US citizens of Middle Group paid more taxes. The economy was to be boosted by new Business Tax incentives. Global trade has been at a high and many countries have profited with economic growth and lower unemployment. With the Tax cuts Trump has been credited with, and the forecasts for US GDP in the next few years, these tax cuts will produce a large deficit in a few years as the population of OAP's increases with the need to supply their OAP rights under US Law. The UK is realising the same problem and taking unpopular methods to alleviate the problem. But as people of all nations live longer there will come a crunch time. The benefits of the Tax cuts of Trump are not selfless. They profit his businesses, and therefore himself. World debt is going up to a dangerous level. Unless the world gets together debt will become unsustainable with inevitable consequences. Trump derided Obamas deficits which he failed to recognise were vital to just keep the US running. Now his deficits are exceeding Obamas, and he still wants to spend more. Something that caused his dreadful business failures. Currently Trump is gradually alienating the US from the rest of the world. Eventually no-one will trust the US to keep any agreements America first sounds good. In world terms we all need each other. The US industry, military and high Tech are dependent on rare earth minerals not available in the US. As a business man he was a failure. His father had to get him out of trouble - and also often act as guarantor. He evaded debts of joint business adventures and others had to pay. . As a man? That depends on you. Still. He's your POTUS. Good luck.
You're confused. I was complimenting Obama for being smart and Pro-American enough to extend to Bush tax cuts to improve the economy. You really should read the post your replying to before spouting off.
I have no obsession. I have simply read Trumps history. I've also been interested in Obamas time as POTUS. He pulled the US out of the 2008 crisis despite being opposed often. His deficit was simple. Without borrowing the US would have been unable to meet even its mandated debts. He made mistakes as about every POTUS has done. Do you believe I'm being too pessimistic about the US future under Trump. Can any POTUS continue to ignore his advisers? Alienate other world powers petulantly without expecting retaliation. Climate change is a reality - except to those who refuse to accept it. To ignore it will not affect Trumps reign but his grand/greatgrandchildren and their generation will suffer. Does he care? The US doesn't own the world, as much as he may think. In 20 years time the economic power will be in the East. I'm from the UK.
Nah. We can dump our Prime Minister and let Parliament sort out our problems. Come to think of it, they can't agree either. Seriously. I think Trump acts before he thinks. The US cannot simply put the US first and alienate its friends or antagonise its enemies. . His world view is limited. He hasn't learnt from history concerning North Korea, or Iran, or Syria, or Libya. He doesn't understand the resilience of the Arab people to threats. He has no right to threaten Iran/North Korea over nuclear weapons. The US and other nations have them - why should Iran/North Korea not have them. The best solution would be to reject Nuclear weapons worldwide but nations mistrust each other so much that's never going to happen with people like Trump, Putin, Kim Jon etc in power. I don't think his fiscal policies are sustainable in the long term. But then I'm not a global economist by profession. I've simply learnt to study the economics of each UK Parties Election promises over the last 60 years to decide which way to vote. And I can tell you that none have actually lived up to their promises. Surprise, surprise. Now I'm 79 - Who cares?
You think that all North Koreans, all Iranians etc are terrorists? What about the Allies and the US invasion of the sovereign land of Iraq? We took back Kuwait under a long standing 'understanding'. But then invaded Iraq to get rid of the 'elected' leader. However much we may not like the validity of the election. That was not a form of Terrorism? Ditto the Bay of Pigs? Ditto Nixons invasion of Cambodia, The US has supported terrorist movements around the world in various ways A terrorist blows up someone in the US and all hell breaks loose. An American citizen kills a dozen schoolkids under the guise of 'gun law', and nothing changes. Terrorism is all a matter of perspective The UK is not innocent in acts of Terrorism down through the ages
*LOL* How about a bit of proof of any of this ? From an economist. Your off the cuff ideological musings won't work.
Higher wages for workers creates FAR MORE demand than tax cuts ever do. You wanna grow the economy & make more jobs? Then, pay higher wages.
Paying higher wages produces higher priced goods. Balance that with the cost of equivalent imported goods. Which would you buy? We had that period in the UK of high wage demands and higher costs and eventually became uncompetitive. Our exports shrank. That's the way of the world. Stopping imports will produce repercussions as millions of poorer people depend on lower priced goods. You are in a world where there are countries with low wage costs. If they can offer the world lower priced goods than yours, whose are they going to buy?
Higher wages only increase the economy because it puts more money in paychecks. Just like a tax cut does. And tax cuts don't run jobs away like an artificial wage minimum does.
