Life is a funny thing. I am in my early 40s and my girlfriend is in her early 60s.

She has had several forms of cancer and she has had her entire larynx cut out. I have a lot of respect for her because I think she is a lot tougher than I would be.

By now they would have already found me somewhere in a wildlife Management area.

Life really sucks when you think about it.... But then again everyday is A beautiful affair.

She gives me inspiration not to be a little bitch.
Today was my day to go and play and do what I wanted to do...

But I told her that tomorrow is your day and you tell me where you want to go and do what you want to do..... We have all day to do it and nowhere in particular to be

She is truly a very strong woman. She has been through cancer and chemo and radiation and having her entire throat cut out and now she is going through experimental therapy where they,.. give her some sort of gene therapy or something.

By now they would have already found the fossils of fat back.

What is such a good person have to go through so many bad things?

She is better than me by far. I don't understand why she has to go through this.

Your attitude is tremendously uplifting... and rare these days.
I wish you both the very best of luck... and God's blessings... if you don't mind.

    I thank you good sir.

I can only hope that with each day that my attitude helps me to live to the next one

It is not like we have much choice. You either choose to embrace the next day and then live...or...... Not much of an alternative, is there?

But come hell or high water tomorrow... We are going to Boca grande and I have my dirt bike in my van still!

Boca grande is a very ritzy Island and for a poor white boy to be riding a dirt bike.... It's like a dog going to pee on the post! Lol

I could not go through the things that they have diagnosed her with.

My God I can only fathom what she has had to deal with.

It is one thing to say that you would do one thing if you were diagnosed with this...

But it is another thing if you find yourself in that position.

I still can't understand why such a good person can find herself in such a bad position.

I can only shake my head and wonder

Good morning! Morning for me anyhow....

Got to figure out where we're going today. Thinking maybe we will go swim in the Gulf.

A good 45 mile drive away. Got to take some of that paycheck and put in the gas tank, that's what it's for.

I had an experience with an ATV last weekend. I was at a neighbor's cabin helping a friend get his stands ready for deer season. They got a river bottom property that's half swamp with dry ridges that rise maybe 10' or so above the swamp. Well they got about a 200' board walk way back in the swamp between ridges and about two and a half feet above the water. They use the board walk to get an ATV across the swamp and haul deer out from the far side of their property.

So we are up there fixing stuff, my friend's sister was helping us with her ATV tow lumber to fix a stand on the back side of the board walk. We were waiting at the stand and she comes, lumber in tow, back to meet us. While my friend and I were fixing the stand his sister mentions that the board walk seemed out of level. We finished fixing the stand and go back to look at the board walk.

I'm not precisely sure how it all went down from there. I remember telling my friend not to run the ATV over the board walk again and his sister had already just ran over it ahead of us and parked the machine on the other side. I had found a soft stringer under the planking and was giving it a little, bouncing up and down on it and explaining why they should stop using the ATV on the board walk. I remember all that, but there is a kind of missing time thing going on. Not much, maybe 2-3 seconds tops.

I remember I was bouncing on it some and heard a crack. Then my friend's sister screamed. Then the black out of time, and when time rematerialized I was standing in the swamp 3 feet below holding four pieces of 5/4x6 about five feet long each and connected on both ends with a foot or two of rotting 3x6 stringer. The outside end of the planking was resting in the swamp and I was holding the peice vertically with my left hand. Everybody else was fine as I was except they were all standing on the board walk three feet over me and their faces had gone white as a bed sheet. I was just standing in 2" of dry swamp, holding the parts from the boardwalk in my left hand and scratching my head with the other.

Lucky my friend's sister didn't get killed falling through and having the machine land on her. Totally a near-death experience for her.

As for me, I prefer to think I had a near-life experience. :)

Went Manasota key yesterday and swam in the Gulf, took the better half with. Killed seven invasive spiny tailed iguanas.

They are all over the island and I shot them with my 22 caliber CO2 single shot bolt action pellet pistol. It was pretty easy in this area with dirt roads all I had to do was drive around until I saw them on the fence post and pick them off.

I don't like killing things just for the sake of killing but these are highly invasive and need to be removed. I told my girlfriend can you believe that people make a living just doing this? Down in South Florida you can also book a trip hunting invasive iguanas with air guns often by boat around residential canals.

I kept getting juveniles and never did get a large size one. I saw a pretty large one but of course when I saw that one, I did not have the gun ready. The juveniles are bright green turning to a black brownish Gray at maturity.
I have one specimen preserved in a jar of rubbing alcohol. I guess I'm just weird that way. Now I have a pet lizard that is very easy to take care of

The beach was nice, no red tide this time so no Dead fish littering the beach.

Right now I am in Port Charlotte and my girlfriend is getting her infusion treatment for cancer which takes about an hour so I walk across the street to this gas station and I see these exotic Peter's Rock agama everywhere.

No gun today and it's really not necessary because the Peters rock agama are not near as invasive as iguana. I've been wanting to catch one but for some large fat lizards they move pretty damn fast. And I almost had one behind this gas station because it went inside of one of those plastic rat bait stations and it only had one door in and one door out so I covered it with my hands and I could feel the agama attempting to escape so all I had to do was keep my hand over as it tried to get out. I had it in a trap with my hands literally covering the only entrance and exit and it still got away from me.

Which is just as well because even though they make interesting pets I don't have a setup ready for it at the house. But I can always try again next month when we come back down here because they're everywhere in Port Charlotte.

They are a very beautiful lizard that gets medium size but they are much larger than any native lizards. The males have a very bright orange head and the tip of their tail is also bright orange

I always wondered how iguana tastes. Would like to compare it with all the other lizards I have tried eating, which would be none of them.

I've seen the iguanas in the Fl keys. Those suckers get about five feet long with the tail, maybe two feet longer than any iguana I've seen in Mexico.

Spiny tailed iguana don't get quite that big but they are substantial when fully grown. But the common Green iguana is certainly the dinosaur of them.

The snout to vent length can probably get well over one foot at least maybe even approaching a couple of foot.

I live about 50 miles inland from the Gulf and I did see one here years ago but I have never seen any more. I think that was likely an escaped or a released pet and was an isolated individual.

I have yet to travel anywhere on the Gulf Coast that I have not seen established populations, though.

If I ever managed to bag a large enough one I will let you know how it tastes.

I will also skin it and salt the hide down to preserve it and perhaps make some lighter cases or something.

They are officially classified as invasive so they can be shot on site with no season or bag limit

Man, if I was still a kid I would jump that hill until I broke something.

Probably could get a good reverse flip off the back of that hill and land cleanly on the ramp side- if you can go fast enough.

There's really only one way to find out for sure....

If you're willing to try it I'll give you the coordinates and meet you there.

Good luck with the landing in the flatwoods on the other side. Lol

Me and my friend are going out there this weekend ( well my weekend which is Monday and Tuesday) taking my KLX 230 dirt bike and my 80cc 4-stroke motorized bicycle because he's too scared to trailer his four wheeler out there.

He thinks the cops will get him but I haven't seen a single cop and I've been there three times and I see people on four wheelers all over the damn place

It depends on the cops discretion I suppose. That and if the cop is doing a lot of court time dealing with migrant RV dopers, then they got better things to do than give somebody grief over their motor bike having two extra wheels.

I'm not recommending anything. I'm just saying the way I see it. Some of the towns out here the cops are merely revenuers for the town. Especially when it comes to obeying the speed limit. I don't speed myself anymore, I'm in no hurry. But I don't understand how they can give somebody a speeding ticket unless the cause personal or property injury. I'm not defending reckless driving, but if you are doing 20mph over in a 55mph limit with nobody else in sight on a Tuesday morning at 0400 and you pass a deputy munching on a donut, why should the cop bother? You didn't hurt anybody and probably won't. Maybe give him a warning if he comes around again tomorrow. But that's at the officers discretion.

It's "Serve and protect", not "Get the money!"

Edit- here is idea for some fun, dependent on the temperament of your friend- take him there with your bikes first, and if you see an ATV scream at the top of your lungs- "It's the cops, RUN!" :)

We both have valid motorcycle endorsements ( which you need now in Florida even to ride a bicycle that is motorized over 49cc, need a valid driver's license even for 49cc or less ) and my dirt bike is a street legal dual sport. And all of those blacktop roads back in there are public, probably about 20 miles worth of roads from a subdivision that never got built. Nothing but woods and trails between them all.

There is even tweakers back there squatting and tents and old campers and they don't seem to run them off.

We will probably go Monday and then trailer his four wheeler out Tuesday once he satisfies himself that it's not going to be a problem.

I would make him ride the bicycle but he's over 300 lb. It's a pretty sweet motorized bicycle that I paid $1,200 bucks for brand new.

It has 26-in wheels with 4-in tires and disc brakes front and rear and the gas tank is an integral part of the frame. The engine has a pull start with a centrifugal clutch and a jack shaft with two drive chains. It even handles sugar Sand pretty well but of course it doesn't have near the bottom end torque that a dirt bike does

I told him to come over today and check out the motorized bicycle because I haven't wrote it in months and the last time I did it would crank but not stay running.

Told him I was pretty sure the gas tank had at least half a tank but we might want to drain the gas. So the first thing we did was try to start it and it would not run. So I took the cap off the tank and shook it around to see what kind of gas was in it.... And lo and behold it was dry as a bone.

    * Best sling blade voice......ugh humm, it ain't got no gas in it.

Put some gas in it and fired right up. Evidently I had left the fuel valve open and it had either leaked or evaporated out in the shed in the several months I had not ridden it.

There isn't a reason that she has to go through it other than it happened to her. There's no higher purpose, intent, or malice. There's no karma or cosmic balance that protects good people from bad things, or makes sure bad people don't have good things.

We are left to deal with life where there is no sense to these kinds of things. They just happen. If we could peel back the veil of the universe and see all causality, there would be no concept of "luck" as we would see that entire line of causality, but since we can't the best that can be said is that she's unlucky. Luck is just what we call our ignorance of causality. It's not fair or right, but those concepts only matter when you're dealing with a human beings. Nature and physics and the universe don't care about fair and right. They don't have capability to care about anything or have any other human characteristics for that matter.

Okay so my friend bitched up.....

We went to the place just a few miles up the highway from here where there is a giant solar field.

This is DeSoto county Florida and Obama actually went there in 2009. I didn't live here then but I'm pretty sure he couldn't be bothered to actually visit the town of Arcadia.

A little redneck town in Southwest Florida so of course he couldn't bothered to go into town and say hello to anyone... Because very few people here voted for him.

My friend found a road killed Eastern diamondback rattlesnake there the other night..... Poor snake.

He has a 400cc four wheeler and I have a 230cc dirt bike.

I weigh 230 lb and he weighs over 350 lb. He is a big son of a b**** and I'm not light myself. My girlfriend teases us and said he is my boyfriend...lol... That's my man!!!

It's a very flat and wide dirt road. He can go around those corners faster than me because I'm not that interested in going that fast and I'm on a dirt bike...

But I have six gears and he has five. I hit 60 miles an hour today on a dirt road for the first time ever. Everything is all good and well unless you wreck....

I know if I go down at that speed it's going to hurt really bad.... Really super bad..

He can get me going around those corners but when there's a long flat straight Road... I got his big ass!

I didn't take any pictures because there's not a whole lot to take pictures of.

We did go through some gnarly stuff. And he has a really shitty sense of direction.

At one point we're trying to find our way out of an area and he was trying to go straight to the Northwest when we should have been going to the southeast.

I told him let's stop here and look on our phone for the blue dot on Google maps and of course at this point there was no public Road...
I said we need to go west where the truck is parked at... Follow me dumbass....
And I got us out of there pretty quick.

He put his four wheeler on his trailer and I followed him on the highway because we were only about 5 miles from the house.
I was kind of following him because he has no brake lights.... But I was also doing my best not to stay too close behind him because s*** falls off of his crappy ass trailer.

There's not much out there but that solar field is very Giant. A few Vans full of Mexican workers past us and they were very happy and waved at us but a couple of white guys and work trucks passed us and mean Mugged us.... Like they were considering trying to stop and be Karen's.

They can do that but if we want to we can haul ass on their ass.

We passed a couple of guys and you can tell the equipment that has Roundup in it because it has a teal die to it so they can tell where it has been applied..... I swear they were sitting there emptying a trailer full of that s*** into a creek.

No wonder they don't want nobody out there because they don't want no one witnessing s*** like that

We went down a power line Road that is very overgrown and muddy and wet in spots.

When I go down stuff like that I'm basically only traveling in first gear from say 12 miles an hour or less... With both legs splayed out to the side in case my bike should try to take a nap on me and I would have to lay her down. .lol

Then we went in this really big area which is basically all sugar Sand where it looks like they were tearing down the woods and disking up the ground to make new solar field area....( So much for that hippie dippy environmental crap..... They are straight up tearing up gopher tortoise habitat to do this)

So it's a big area of plowed up dirt and I'm going along in first gear and have my legs laid out anytime that I feel like I could crash. Not only that but I have to make sure that these palmetto Roots don't get kicked up into my wheels.

I could go out there at night by myself but I better make sure I have the world's best mosquito repellent and I could see a chupacabra out there!

Or at least plenty of coyotes. The sort of place you would really want to take your gun with you.

You can bet when the secret service took Obama out there to have a good look around.... They had all the damn guns in the world.

But that would be the time for me to go rattlesnake hunting

I just had two chicken tamales from a real Mexican restaurant.... Damn that is some good food!!!

I can get them for $2 each and once a week I stop when I leave work so I get there before 7:00 a.m. because you have to get them before they sell out... Which will typically be by lunch time.... Tamales are like healthy Mexican fast food !!!

    I hear you very well.

I believe everything has a reason for happening. When someone says " luck "..... I believe it is their way of saying.... I don't understand how this end result came to be so I am going to just chalk it up to " luck "....

If I would have crashed going 55 or 60 on my dirt bike today on those dirt roads..... It would not have been luck..... It would have been a direct result of me going too fast on a dirt road.

Now was it luck that I did not crash? Of course not, but I still felt kind of lucky.

And I don't smoke that reefer very often but when me and my boyfriend go out..... I'll take me a toke or 3 and I make him drink a beer or two with me!

I don't go out in the middle of this Florida heat on my dirt bike without some beer to drink!
