Recently I've watched a movie about empires on Earth in history. The authors of the movie claimed 2 very important things. Each empire lasted for about 235 years and the other thing was that when the empire was about to collapse there was only one thing common to each situation like that. That was "the cult of the cook". Cooks became celebrities and very important people. That was so common - it was visible in every empire to collapse in just few years. Now we live in a global village. The whole western world made cooks celebrities. The question is WHAT NEXT?
The dark ages followed the fall of the roman empire. Basically what happens is that technology and ability is forgotten. You end up with people growing up under the shade of the pyramids of giza who wouldn't know how to lay a brick. You end up with cambodians who have no historical records of phnom penh, and don't even know how to maintain it. You have syrians who grew up kinda knowing about palmyra, but have troubles making sure that the latrine is down stream. you end up with charlton heston on the beach looking at the statue of liberty.
