Northern states are feeling the effects of Climate Change. An increased in forest fires were predicted decades ago. Increase in droughts, in hurricane activity (this year should be mild compared to previous years thanks to El Niño), floods, .... we are now seeing what was predicted a long time ago. Except, back then, it was preventable. Not anymore. All we can do now is try to not make it worse for the younger generation and mitigate as we can.

However, one thing that should not be ignored and might be equally dangerous are the benefits of Oil to terrorists and rogue nations. Iran has created a very impressive gun industry funded by their oil profits. Oil producing countries have bought large portions of companies and territory in the U.S. They even bought themselves a PGA!

I'm not advocating for taking the profits away from countries that might otherwise be poor as dirt. But this is getting dangerous. And I'm sure they can diversify. A country that can murder a U.S. journalist, or that can threaten others because they don't share their religious beliefs, without fear of sanctions because... others need their oil.... are a danger to world peace. If nothing else.. ALL countries (even the U.S., in case we get another "Trump" in the WH) should be vulnerable at a minimum to international sanctions. And oil has made some nations pretty much "unpunishable".

Oh, the dangers of oil lmao. Your posts are like democrat squackbox. I am a part of the oil industry. Oil is not dangerous. All the dying sea life may argue with you about green energy. Or all the birds that get fried mid flight by solar. Die mid flight….. but hey, it’s safe.

the saudis escaped all consequences for 9/11. they are, in internationals terms, like those teens who are absolved of heinous crimes because of their "affluenza."

Word is the wind turbines are toppling over left and right, many as tall as a skyscraper. Talk about a metaphor!

people are saying that those windmills cause cancer. let me know just as soon as they post a 30 kilometer "exclusion zone" around a melted windmill.

A wind turbine toppling over might be a tad less dangerous than the fundamentailst leaders of Iran using oil profits to develop an ICBM capable of carrying nuclear warheads to countries full of infidels.

The economic dominance of oil exporting nations is an excellent point. But the 'climate change' hysteria is padding their profits quite nicely. Many of us who fund terrorism and what some call 'rogue nations' by buying their oil could instead use our own domestic energy reserves, like coal, except for 'climate' regulations that the oil exporting nations ignore.

Thats not to say we cant go for solar and etc, but we certainly could use our own fossil fuels in the interim instead of propping up oil-rich dictatorships for their fossil fuels. But that would require laxing some regulations...

The climate change "hysteria" has fought to force car manufacturers to be more fuel efficient, to support the electric car industry and solar energy, to discover alternative energy sources.... and many etc like those Not sure how any of that "pads" the profits for oil producing nations but... you can, of course, say it..... so long as you don't feel the need to justify it.

We buy fossil from them when we could use our own instead. Its as simple as that. We're supporting them unecessarily.

I am in the North East. I've never seen brown grass from drought in early June. Now, of course, this could be a one off, so it's not easy to pin this on oil or climate change. For that. I'd rather look at worldwide temperature changes, instead of local, isolated events. I'd agree, though, that the sooner we can wean ourselves off oil, the better, even only for the reason that oil is NON-RENEWABLE, and I, at least, don't want my kids or grandkids to experience a world without oil (can you spell deep depression).

It's interesting, though, how you all of a sudden see everyone wearing a mask outside, when most of them would have been caught dead wearing a mask toward the end of the covid pandemic. I guess Fox News is not telling them wearing a mask is bad when it comes to protect your respiratory system from pollutants. The anti-mask hysteria was all politicized by the usual pundits, one of them now, luckily, relegated to Twitter.

So we have somewhat reliable climate data on what...100 years out of 4.5B years that the Earth has been floating around in space? That's a 2.22... ^-8 sample size. And you believe that this is enough to come up with all kinds of suppositions about the effect that human beings have had on the global climate? And you're the one who "understands" science?

Terrible idea! First of all, there ARE cars in other countries, you know. If we use our own, other countries will have to buy more from them instead of US. Which is even worse because then they will REALLY control the market. Even more profits!

Not sure what your point is. I don't think many people alive today were alive 4.5 billion years ago. So.... who cares?

Remember forum rules: if you have a point to make YOU make it.

I stopped following any links you send when you made me waste 15 minutes of my life watching a video in which Rudy Giuliani proved that a fishbowl cleaner was the perfect cure for Covid.

Show me the study which shows it has anything to do with climate change.

    What hurricane activity?

I know you can't pin individual events on Climate Change. The point, though, is that events like these were predicted decades ago. This is an example that, strictly speaking, might have happened even if there had been no climate change. It's the accumulation of events that were predicted all those years ago that have been coming true especially in the last 20 years or so. BTW, Covid was ALSO one of the things that were predicted. As was SARS. You know... the type of epidemics that used to occur every 100 years or so... Which means we can look forward to another pandemic not too far from now in the future. So stock up on masks... and toilet paper (for whatever reason)

Nuclear winters were also predicted decades ago. A prediction is proof of nothing except someone doing enough research to find a random prediction which turned out to be true.

Forest fires are a very natural and healthy part of the ecological process. The reason the northern states are getting smoked out is because of piss poor forest management.

Y'all want the forests left alone to be completely pristine and natural. Well, this is the forests being completely natural.
