So Texas is going to allow teachers to carry guns into the classrooms....

Jesus Christ, have you people all gone mad ....youre going to the the classroom into a firefight,
with kids screaming in fear diving under desks while teacher and assailant trade shots....

One question...when does The Lone Ranger ride in...or maybe Wyatt Earp, or Doc Holliday...

God help America...someone needs to.....

 

If Texas school-killers are assuming thier 2nd Amendment remedies ... it makes sense to arm teachers ... it may be confusing, this tail-wagging the dog sentiment ... but I don't think this what the Founding Fathers had in mind ...

 

Is it better that the kids simply be targets, without ANY possibility of the shooter being neutralized?

 

Now the criminals know where they can get a gun if they want one. Just whack a teacher over the head and take his/hers.

Before 1997 in Australis we had 13 mass shootings in 16 years - since then 1 - count it ONE

So the experiment that America has been conducting about more guns = more safety - how is that going?

 

And republicans cannot read research that clearly shows more guns = more gun deaths

 

I'm not saying that arming Texas teachers is actually wrong ... I only find it odd that a school-killers 2nd Amendment rights *remedies* is forcing them too ..

 

Yep, it is much better if they are picked off one by one like the last shooting with no ability to stop it. Somehow your gun free zones are not working.

We are better learned from those that have dealt with this, the Israelis.

I love the way liberals bring up TV shows or Movies, where most of them have learned about guns.

Probably not. They're teachers or administrators, not soldiers or cops or security personnel.

However it's a natural progression for teachers to be armed whilst teaching children in the US. The killings could happen again and any response which might deter or deal with an active shooter must be better than nothing. There will have to be a lot of work done before teachers can simply walk into the classroom with a firearm in order to protect their students, but it's a start.

 

The public teachers are not very good educators so I doubt if they would be much use in a shootout anyway.

Better to let them practice hiding under their desk instead.

 

So, Airline Pilots can be armed, but not teachers in order to at least try to protect their kids in such cases? I don't follow that logic. Don't forget....this was one person. YES, he was heavily armed, but he also had to have had his back turned to someone at ALL times. The children were being slaughtered. You don't think if one or two teachers could have gotten into the hall found their way down to the room he was shooting from.....and got a shot off that took him out...that it would have been worth it???? HELL, yes, it would have. Those kids didn't have a chance. At least in that case, they would have.....

Show me where they banned any group of people from bearing arms....like teachers.

 

So let me get this right...
Kids in America are not permitted to bring weapons into schools...weapons are banned.
Yet teachers in Texas can now carry a gun to protect the kids.
What if the teacher is afraid of guns...what if the teacher is a poor shot...you cant assume that
the teacher will be a good shot...what if the teacher in his/her haste, pulls out the gun and attempts to fire
it with the safety on..result..the assailant then kills the teacher...you cannot just assume that that teacher will
become an almighty protector with a gun strapped on her thigh...
Of course teachers would have to go and practise at the local Rifle Range, so as theycan become competent
gun users....
When will the students start demanding the right to carry their own guns...is that the next step...
Maybe give kids guns when they turn 16..now thats a great idea isnt it....but only at school...hhmmm...
The whole idea of having more guns in the community for everyone to defend themselves seems ludicrous...
Cant you legislate to dispose of the AK47s etc...just as a start...why is it necessary for a human being
in the USA to own an AK47?...and dont say its his right...that is just crap....

The bottom line is you cant legislate to protect the crazy man from himself....
And that is what the law is for,...to protect people from themselves.....
But you can try....you dont just give up and arm more people.....

Yes. I'm sorry, but on "Sixty Minutes" tonight the nurse of the school didn't come off so good when she spoke of "freezing up" and staying hidden in her closet for 4 HOURS!! I realize they are trained to do that and she had no idea if it was a terrorist attack or what.....but didn't she think of those little kids???? Unlike the other teachers who kept kids in a closet and safe from the gunmen, the nurse just saved herself. I don't know what I'd do....but I would like to think I'd try to look for a way to do something for those kids.....even if it meant dying. But maybe I would have frozen up just like her; who knows how they'd react. What they needed in that school was some ex-Marine school teacher who was packing.

 

I'm sure they wouldn't be forced to carry. It's for those who want to and who agree to get the proper training. Some of them could be ex-military and already know how. Don't rule it out....until considering how it could work.

 

Why don't you ask the Swiss? And before you say something about "America can't be compared to Switzerland", let me just head you off and say, America can't be compared to Australia.

 

even if they get the gun, in short order, another 12 armed and defensively pissed teachers will come from surrounding rooms and plaster the guy...
