Look, guys, I laugh as much as the next guy about the idea that people who are disgusted by homosexuality are actually closeted homophobes struggling to keep their own urges down. It's funny, it's an easy deflection, and on the surface it's backed by some research. But seriously? Cut that (*)(*)(*)(*) out. Now. I see this thrown around all the time, but it's got a lot of problems. First off, it's extremely presumptuous. You ever see that one guy who keeps on asserting things about you that he'd need to be a mind-reader to know (and that are wrong)? This turns you into that yguy. Even if you're joking, it's dumb. Secondly, I see it commonly used against those who don't even profess to hate gays... And you know what? Even if they are the most bigoted, anti-gay jerkwads, I'm really inclined to believe them. They're anti-gay, but they commonly don't see it as hate (and we're all better off that way). And for those who don't hate gays, it's really dumb. Lastly, what's the point? Seriously, what's the point? If it's true, throwing it out there is just going to make them more angry and drive them further into denial. If it's not, it makes you seem like some of the more annoying people on this board. So please... Just stop.
