is the dilemma of needing to go after a more diverse (in every sense) demographic while maintaining the loyalty of the shrinking demographic that supports it.

    According to this article........

Two stats show why Republicans are so fixated on suppressing the vote
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/04/21/why-republicans-fixate-suppressing-vote/
...............turnout among non college educated whites was down in 2020. Combine that with the diminishing number of white evangelicals and the POT has a problem.

But with the party built on grievance politics, nativism, an anti-immigration, hostility to the LBGTQ community, hostility to minorities generally, hostility to science, a love of Trumpery and all that implies, reaching out for more voters threatens to alienate the base.

Left with few if any good options to grow the party it has decided the next best course of action is keep as many of those on the other side from voting as is realistically possible given the constraints on what it can do without being even more obvious than the GA legislature.

Republicans, in essence, are trying to eke out as many election cycles as they can with its shrinking base. Deathly afraid of alienating the most rabid MAGA supporters, they continue to stoke racial resentment, fear of immigrants and bizarro conspiracy theories — all of which push away non-Whites, women, college-educated voters and younger voters. In sum, Republicans’ base is vanishing and they haven’t the slightest idea what to do about it — other than a possibly self-destructive effort to disenfranchise voters.

Without an actual head count of people that physically turned out to vote, its not really possible to know who voted and who didn't. What we have are a digital representation of demographics, guaranteed to be 'accurate' by a notoriously sloppy and corrupt political elite of lying technocratic leaches.

Elite or not, everybody wants to have an accurate count of the demographics. So your conspiracy theory fails.

As far as I can tell the Satanist Trump constituency is taking over the, Oh,Jesus Christ! religious right from the Reagan era. It looks to be a good bout.

Maybe we don't want Chinese citizens voting in our elections. We know where Joe Biden's been.

You gotta be pretty racist to think minorities not only don’t have IDs, but that they are too stupid to get them.

Liberals love subsidizing things with taxpayer money. Give every one of your voters free IDs. All they gotta do is show up for the picture, and we already know how good liberals are at bussing around their voters. Piece of cake.

but oh wait, they aren’t going to do any of this because election integrity is the last thing they are actually interested in.

Yes true. But not everybody wants everybody else to know what the accurate demographics actually are. As exhibit one, I give you gerrymandering.

The first comes from TargetSmart, a Democratic data firm that has compiled information on more than 98 percent of those who cast ballots last year from individual voter files. The firm finds: “Non-college educated whites dropped from 53.8% of the electorate in 2016 to 49.2% in 2020.” Moreover, “Nationally, total turnout increased by 12% relative to 2016,

The second statistic behind the Republicans’ collective panic attack has to do with their solid core of supporters: White evangelical Christians. As I pointed out last month, Gallup finds that the percentage of those attending any religious institution has dropped below 50 percent, the first time in 80 years of its surveys. Churches are losing younger Americans at a remarkable rate.

Not really. You just have to be familiar with the data, and with the obstacles some black people have in getting the documentation they need to get an ID.

    What obstacles, specifically?

Seems like they can get IDs to get on lots of other social services just fine.

Gerrymandering follows EXACTLY the demographics that is made public. As does voter suppression. You can almost pick out the areas where more minorities live by measuring how long the lines are on election day.

Your conspiracy theory also fails in that demographics is measured both by right-wing pollsters as well as left-wing pollsters. And there are very few significant differences. Unless you include everybody in your conspiracy theory. Which would make it even worse.

How would you know that they are not accurate?

Unless you're just making this up. Which I am completely sure is the case. So never mind the question I asked.

Because the pollsters themselves have said so in the news leading up to the election. And then there were the polls showing Mitch was in a neck and neck which Mitch won by what was it twenty? The pollsters thought the Dems would flip Texas and Florida and you weren't close.

Why is it that Democrats in Democrat districts aren't capable of managing a polling booth so that lines are short? Seems like gross incompetence to me.

Not everybody, but certainly both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party are plenty corrupt enough to want to obfuscate demographical realities and powerful enough to achieve such obfuscation.

Liberals have stated this. Blacks, according to liberals, are literally unable to get a voter ID at all. Ever. They can't do it.

And now, roads are racist. So, apparently blacks can't even cross the roads these days, either - according to liberals.

Republicans need to be tougher on immigration. Not just illegal immigrants, we need to stop the flow of legal migrants to this country of people who do not share our values and are bound to vote Democrat. Unfortunately, Republicans, historically, have been all to willing to bring people in this country who vote bad politicians in their homeland and then come into this country to vote Democrats after the politicians for whom they voted destroy their own country. California was once a Republican state, but with the flow of Democrat-voting immigrants, it is deeply blue. And Republicans, like Reagan, were responsible for that.

Tucker had a great segment on this.
