The doom and gloom crowd, the Karen's, may prompt two positive changes in society.

The first and one most talked about is people working from home. Threads have been created.

The most impactful will be an increase in home schooling. This method has proven to be far superior to public schooling, and even better than private school. With any luck, this will even break the horrible public school system and the indoctrination of the young.

I'll see your two theoretical and facetious "positives" and raise you an actual negative: the political fueled hostility of /cough certain people who are attacking, assaulting, and we even had one murder right? over being asked to practice social distancing

    Not theoretical.

    • The home-educated typically score 15 to 30 percentile points above public-school students on standardized academic achievement tests. (The public school average is the 50th percentile; scores range from 1 to 99.) A 2015 study found Black homeschool students to be scoring 23 to 42 percentile points above Black public school students (Ray, 2015).
    • Homeschool students score above average on achievement tests regardless of their parents’ level of formal education or their family’s household income.
    • Whether homeschool parents were ever certified teachers is not related to their children’s academic achievement.
    • Degree of state control and regulation of homeschooling is not related to academic achievement.
    • Home-educated students typically score above average on the SAT and ACT tests that colleges consider for admissions.
    • Homeschool students are increasingly being actively recruited by colleges.

Right right but that's small samples of willing participants that probably have some per-existing measure of dedication. I'd rather keep organized education in the mix and see more online schooling; easier for parents/supervisors to hop in and review, potential for smaller classes and hiring of more teachers. More work from home too, that one I want to see blow up and become the new standard for employment.

(and honestly the post you quoted was just me being pissy at these jerks being so belligerently against social distancing that they're attacking people over it)

    2.5 mlillion is small?

I think you should reread the link.

If one chooses to social distance I see no problem. Mandating it through government and they have a right.

I'm not attacking people for being for social distancing(which we should be in general), I'm attacking people for the lockdown because it's both illogical and inconceivable to lock down otherwise healthy individuals. I know that it's because we don't know the precise number of COVID-infected persons and in many cases due to the asymptomatic cases, they don't know either(see: The Kansas walmart girl as we'll call her now.)

But even with those facts, our country's fundamental values are values we should defend. Only in defending them, do they become entrenched. When Liberals say "**** your freedoms", you're capsizing on an American value, not just a political value.

Liberals can feel free to capsize on every former liberal tenant they want, the hypocrisy is blatant at this point but they(nor does anyone) have permission to capsize on American values.

Institutionalized schooling in general is very rigid and set in its ways. If I have children I will adapt my work to allow me to homeschool them.

Work is a means to an end, while family is an end in itself.

Looks like some article are coming out about this!

One Good Thing about the Lockdown
    By Ron Paul

One of the few good things to come out of the government-mandated shutdown is that many parents have started homeschooling their children. Many of these parents are likely to continue homeschooling after the government schools reopen.

Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) did its part to encourage homeschooling when it unveiled “guidelines” for schools to follow when they reopen. Among the CDC’s guidelines are that schools put tape on the hallways, directing children which direction to walk and how much distance to keep between themselves and their classmates. The CDC also recommends children do not share electronic devices or learning aids. The guidelines even say children should wear masks at school.

The CDC’s guidelines instruct schools to close playgrounds and cafeterias, and to cancel all field trips and assemblies. Instead, students are to spend all day at their desks, not even leaving classrooms for lunch or recess.

The CDC’s guidelines may not have the force of law, but it is likely most government schools will adopt them in order to ensure continued access to federal funding. Schools will do this even though children are at a very low risk of being seriously harmed by coronavirus. In fact, by forbidding children from going outside to play, exercise, and get sunshine, the guidelines actually endanger children’s health. The guidelines also harm children by limiting their ability to interact with their fellow students and develop social skills.

Opponents of homeschooling claim that homeschooled children lack proper socialization. Like many attacks on homeschooling, the claim that homeschoolers are not “socialized” is the opposite of the truth. Education researcher Corey DeAngelis recently told journalist John Stossel in a Reason interview that "children who are homeschooled get much better academic and social results than kids in government schools.” Mr. DeAngelis pointed out that “homeschoolers score about 30 percent higher on the SAT test than kids in regular schools.”

Another advantage of home schooling is the absence of bullying.
