I wonder how many New Yorkers are suddenly going to turn pro-gun. It took such a situation---the realization after watching Katrina---to help me realize that the ability to defend oneself and property is important---because there are situations when government isn't available. And they happen quite abit here. I also wonder....if the U.S is more gun savvy because we have these natural disasters as a higher rate then much of the other developed world. Last year Joplin lay in ruins. Hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, winter storms that take the power and security systems out for days at a time....perhaps it takes these experiences to realize the importance of self-reliance. So...do natural disasters matter in the attitude towards gun ownership.
It is always a good idea to run away as your first choice under all cirmstances. If your in our house be carefull around corners, there maybe be additional looters in the house. Once outside, be carefull to avoid more looters. If you have small children or elderly. They will distract looters and criminals and give you enough time to run away. Keep running until your cell phone has enough bars to call 911. If that is not an option try using polite language to talk with the looters. Reason with them and convince them to go away. Don't make the situtation worse. If your wife is attractive, offer your wife, and beg that they don't harm your children. Your wife will understand later. Of course if you have a gun, be sure to identify the target, be sure of a good backstop, and open fire. Move the dead bodies out the front yard as a warning to others.
Perhaps being courteous and showing them the stuff they might have missed...will make a more benign looter.
Remember how bad things got with the Los Angeles Riots in 1992 ? Things got so bad that the police forces just pulled out and left much of the city to fall into chaos. Here's a picture of Korean Americans defending their family business from being looted and burned by rioters:
Interesting that its Asians playing the classic american role here, isnt it? Show us a way that Asians dont out-play Americans at their own game.
Looters have already been arrested in NY and NJ for stealing TV's and booze. Once the roads and public transit gets working better there may be more cases. Right now there are many people in their dark homes with no electricity, no working alarms and no guns. A good percentage of them are now wishing they had a gun or an armed guard. Hardcore gun control activists (as many are in this forum) would allow their whole families to assaulted and killed by gangs of violent looters before thinking about buying a gun.
Actually...they are Americans. That came here an built something---and not very interested in seeing parasites destroy what they built.
yeah, sorry, I sure said that wrong, bit of chauvenism on my part. Im an american too. Not the hypenated kind. Im a citizen now.
ha. You go to Taipei, Shanghai, etc and test your driving there! They are insane! You have to make 6 lanes of 3, including the sidewalk.
I can't say I'll feel sorry for any of the businessmen that get some of their more valued objects "expropriated"
I Hope All Of Them! General George Washington, while President mase the first and only Mandate (until Obamcare) making it a requirement that All Households Have a Firearm! Go to the following link to Keep Out The UN and the Arms Treaty! 2nd Amendment Threat! http://dickmorris.rallycongress.com/7175/gun-control/
No, I have doable standards when it comes to capitalists because I see them as parasitic scumbags who take our surplus value and waste it on useless crap. But someone of the working class looting from a fellow worker? No, I wouldn't approve of that.
Not only legal, I didnt even want to come here. I was pretty mad about it, but what does a 13 yr old have to say in such things. Of course, I had some odd ideas about what the USA is all about, as does anyone not from here. I'd never want to go back, my life is here now. oh and thanks for the welcome. Its my intention to always be a good citizen.
That is too bad to hear you have such an attitude. I wonder what turned your mind in such a direction as that? Would you feel that i should have my home looted because its well above the median and i did nothing to earn the money?
everyone should be allowed to own a gun to protect their homes and families, even ex-felons imo, it's a constitutional right, not a privilege and I am definitely pro-gun even though I do not own one myself, if everyone else does, criminals will think I might too .
